Laying your fabric on fine sand paper helps keep the fabric in place while marking.

I would press my fabric onto freezer paper before doing my lettering. Lover Amy's lettering!

You can put packing tape on the back of the piece of fabric before writing or drawing on it. That stabilizes the fabric so that moving the pen over the fabric doesn’t stretch it. When you are finished, the packing tape can easily be peeled off.

Does this ink need to be set with an iron? What works best for attaching to the quilt? Fusible backing then sew? Will it fray if the edges are pinked? Such a terrific video! I would love to know how others attach theirs!

I love this! I just have one question. Do these markers need to be heat set to be permanent? I know a lot of them do. You wouldn't want to accidentally wash away all that beautiful work.

Draw guidelines on a piece of freezer paper. Press to the wrong side of your fabric. The freezer paper stabilizes your fabric and the lines show thru a light colored fabric or use a lightbox. Then make your label. Peel the freezer paper off the back. Sew your label on your quilt.

Pressing fabric on freezer paper keeps the fabric flat and easy to write on. Then just peel the freezer paper away.

If you put the clips ‘clear side down’ the paper will not have those bumps…in other words you have the clips upside down.

I didn’t see any previous videos.. wouldn’t matter if your handwriting isn’t as nice as this lady’s handwriting. print a design in chosen fonts then trace that on to the label with a light box.

I do something similar. My labels tend to be more detailed, including address, reason for the quilt, etc., so free-hand writing is much more error-prone. I tape the paper with the printed draft of the text to a window, then tape the fabric over the paper, and then trace the lettering. A light box would be so much easier.
