I love your videos, Aly! As far as my relationship to my interior design, it started where I painted my favorite colors on the wall, but not necessarily thinking about the aesthetic of the room. And I thought that if the room was clean everything should look good. Later, I upgraded my thinking to realize more natural colors look better on the walls, taking everything to a more grounded version of my favorite (bright) colors. Picking out a few things about the room one at a time that needed upgrading instead of just keeping it clean. I started playing a phone game called project makeover, and now my way of doing things is choosing an aesthetic, for example, Zen Cafe, for my dining room, and then using a photoshop tool to chose what would reflect that aesthetic in my space. That way, my whole room was planned out before I started painting or choosing new furniture or whatever. This works so much better. Thought I'd share, and thanks for your awesome content! ❤

I've always loved decorating but after using the different style systems, looking at the colors, lines, details and the impressions they give I like my living spaces to reflect me. Soft summer, theatrical romantic, and flower, earth, fire style roots lol. The little things matter.

Hi Aly. Very great information. And educational. I have never thought about any of this before. I especially enjoyed the history of the architecture. I enjoyed learning about Russia and where you came from. My family heritage was Ukraine before immigrating to Western Canada so I enjoy learning about that part of the world. Food and music also, ha ha!! But that's another topic. A very great video.

The thing with the white hospital walls is more of a brightness issue. You can do soft warmish lighting on mid to soft cool colors or throw some warmth in via an accent or wood finish. That's how I approach modern yet traditional with being neutral-cool toned. Traditional french and country style while maintaining a cleaner look. Which some traditional frill suits a theatrical romantic.

The gaudy ,kitschy minimalist didn't come in ,in 2010 (at least not in Canada). The brown that was in the 2000's turned into beige, and was paired with black all over the place. Then the beige went out and black stayed. A friends house reno'd in 2010 ,was, dark almost black cupboards ,with grey granite countertops, black and white furniture, grey blue walls, and small blue and grey sub tiles. 80's born millenials that didn't adjust to this returned to pale neutrals from the 2000's .

This was a very interesting video about different aesthetics. I already realized, that espacially russian women have a totally opposite aesthetic to those of north-western countries. This scandinavian style is often more relaxed, natural and neutral in colours, fabrics and prints. I love more the northern style, because the russian aesthetic for me is overloaded and seems also oldfashioned, like the style in the sixsties in western countries. But i would like to see more about russian women with a more modern style, about russian aesthetics and how it developed. I love these culture- videos!

...did the women consent to be in this video? I really don't know a stock photo website serving these kind of photos.... I do appreciate how polite you are, but some of the comments in these series are troubling. I saw one comment in the previous video saying they find "incorrectly" dressed women in Germany so funny they take photos of them (young or old, if they weigh more and are wearing tight clothing).
