Hi Erica! I’ve watched so many videos and I definitely trust your thoughts on this. Currently I am using Advanced CB soy wax. They say to heat wax to 70-75 degrees Celsius. Cool to 60 degrees and add FO then pour immediately after the 2 minute stir of course. So many people say to add FO at a higher temp (in your case around 85 degrees Celsius) my hot an cold throw isn’t too bad. I use 10% FO. Some scents are more noticeable than others but I would love a much stronger scent throw. Any ideas on what you recommend? I hate to make candles knowing that they could be better!
@vikingvibes752 жыл бұрын
Hi Erica :) I just came across your channel as, I too, am interested in beginning candle making. I am definitely nervous if I can actually do this. I am so excited and passionate about the ideas in my head but definitely nervous how it will go. Your videos are SO full of great info so thank you!! My one question on this video is, what is the ratio of soy wax and beeswax that you use? And does the beeswax really help the burn/melt of the candle vs soy alone? Also, since soy wax and beeswax have different melting and pouring temp points, how do you find that right balance? I started my candle making ideas thinking of just making beeswax candles, however, I have discovered that it could be a little limited and maybe more difficult to work with. But I really want to produce something that is enjoyable, has a quality burn and is also eco-friendly and can give some benefit. Anyway, it's a joy to watch your videos and your processes. Any advice you can give on my questions is greatly appreciated! Happy candle-making :)

Please make a video on how to get perfect smooth candle tops and how do you clean the pouring jug or fragrance cups after making the candles ☺️
@MemoryBoxCandleCo3 жыл бұрын
So most of the time the rough tops are due to the kind of wax you’re using. Sometimes the temp can affect this though (and people do all sorts of things that work for them ie pouring hotter or cooler) however if you’re working with 100% soy wax this can be more finicky and cause more rough tops that can be fixed with a heat gun :) In fact I use a heat gun a lot! Especially for cleaning. Check out this video I made on my heat gun: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4uxhIRva9OLeck And then I just use soap and warm water to clean out my silicone measuring cups :)

Hello Erica! Thank you again for this informative video, your process seems so well thought and effortless (god knows how many trials and errors have you experienced to come to this level!). I wanted to ask you how do you manage with these temperature variations of the digital thermometer. I have the same one, and in comparison with a classic one, I can see there are variations. I understand it comes with experience, as I am in the testing process right now figuring out my “recipes”, I just want to avoid any variations as much as possible. Also, do you test the candles in every new batch you make?
@MemoryBoxCandleCo3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I know this isn’t really an answer but it definitely just comes with experience. I’m pretty laid back when it comes to candle making and I’m not very strict on exact temperatures and work within a range.
