What's always cool about Janus' tips is that they're always focused on creativity just as much as process. So many tutorials tend to zero in on the technical capability of a DAW, instrument or plugin, whereas these videos demonstrate the cool things that can be done with a bit of creative thinking as well, something which is perhaps hidden away by a lot of producers who maybe want to keep tips and tricks to themselves. The reverb automation on just selected clap hits is a great example of this. Awesome as always!

Two more things, I often do, when things are too tight to the grid: 1. Apply a swing setting from Live's stock list of grooves. 2. Find a drum loop that works with the machine beat and use Live's extract groove feature and then apply that drum beat's swing to the machine beat. Even with subtle settings, this can work wonders.

Really needed that explanation concerning the drums. I get my tracks reviewed by some well known DJs and producers and the main thing in my tracks is that it lacks something in the drums but my chords and melodies are always great but I had to focus on my drums. As your are one of my favourite artists for music production, this video was perfect for me to understand how to make it more lively. Thanks Janus ;)

I like to automate one of the tips you did here. You made some small 0-35 cent detunes on your claps; I like to assign an LFO to a Frequency Shifter with a "random" waveshape matched to the time interval of my percussion... that way it detunes my hats and percs to about that same range (up to ~40 cents), making every hit is just a tiny bit different.
