What skills would you recommend acquiring and monitoring off of the top of your head?
@@BoydClewisThese are the skills I master and that is the way I would love to continue on my own. But, yes but, I work for a MSP with all kinds of customers, our company has diffiiculties selling this to customers, security is not prio 1 to them. The market is completely different here in Belgium. Where can I make the difference on that level if I start on my own? Or like your example, practice, maybe 75% will refuse your services and 25% will accept it
@BoydClewis5 ай бұрын
@@justnikscom I’ve provided services all over the world. It’s not the market, it’s probably the marketing. I owned a MSP before starting my Consulting company and selling cybersecurity can be difficult if you don’t approach it correctly especially to SMB’s. Many SMB’s aren’t aware of their vulnerabilities which is why I would provide a complimentary risk assessment and sell them on a solution that addresses the discovered risk. It’s also important to understand if a company isn’t generating much revenue they won’t give a crap about cybersecurity because it’s not in the budget. Make sure you’re dealing with companies with a least 5 million dollars in annual revenue. I hope that helps.

@@alkingkingdom2154 Just because you’ve been doing something for a long time doesn’t necessarily mean you’re good at it. This is the crucial distinction between skill and experience. Experience is about the amount of time you’ve spent doing an activity. For example, you might have 15 years of driving experience, but if you frequently drift out of your lane or cause accidents, it’s clear that time alone hasn’t made you a skilled driver. Skill, on the other hand, is about proficiency and ability. It’s the capability to perform a task well and consistently. A skilled driver can navigate complex traffic, stay within their lane, and avoid accidents, regardless of how many years they’ve been driving. In cybersecurity, the same principle applies. You might have years of experience in the field, but if you haven’t developed the specific skills needed to solve problems and create value, that experience alone won’t get you very far. Focus on building and honing your skills - that’s what truly matters.
