There are slim odds of you finding things at the dollar store that you can turn into significant profit, but it does happen. For a while, Dollar Tree was selling a certain type of makeup that I was able to sell on eBay for $8, so even after postage and fees I still made almost $4 profit on every $1 I spent. I cleaned out my local stores and raised the price to $9 and I'm almost sold out.

I do love the dollar tree to purchase some items for myself and my family. Buying and selling dollar tree items is another story. The very best find at dollar tree is a decent size bag of pink salt. You get several oz for just a dollar! Of course I’m out of it atm so I can’t recall exactly how much is in the bag but it is quite a bit! The same quantity sells elsewhere for well over $15. This salt is the best deal I have ever come across at dollar tree. I go through it so much because I use it not only for food but I also make homemade hand scrubs as well as other products with it. Going from using regular white salt or kosher salt to using the pink himilyian salt in these scrubs makes the product more desirable and also allows to charge more.

When you take shipping, fees, taxes, gas to drive around and the amount of work you're putting in, the $0.50-$3 profit on each item isn't worth it over a regular job or something like the stock market. The books with a Sharpie mark on them are considered "hurt" books. I worked at one of the oldest wholesalers of these books for awhile during college... Here is the official definition of what a "hurt" book is. "Hurts or returns" is an expression used to describe those brand new books that are returned to the publisher by a retailer. Hurts or returns are typically in "like new" condition but may have a light crease or shelf wear. Many of these books have what is called a "remainder mark", which is a small mark appearing on the bottom or side of the book.

the food quantity is different because people used to go into these Dollar Trees and buy stuff then take it to their local Walmart and return it and make money. So now they make different quantities for these dollar stores. The books are color coded indicate the reason why they are being resold. I am not for sure for each color code. but some for example will have errors in spelling or words may even be missing. some of these books are dumped are the publisher because they are not selling. and I know some of the colors will indicate if these books have been returned in new condition, they sometimes come from libraries, prisons and other organizations that will get these on a lend or lease from the publisher.

Best by dates is not an expiration date! A best by date is guaranteed freshness up to that date, no promises after that date. Expiration date is to discard after the date as it’s haute tees to be bad or of no use any longer. HUGE difference.

I understand, but Amazon treats it like an expiration date and the item cannot be sent in with one past that date or about to hit that date.
@AznTony3604 жыл бұрын
@@ThriftSchool Although correct, you still shouldn't be calling it an expiration date or expired. Crackers, candies, etc are still edible even after the date. Calling them expired means that the store is selling you perished goods unfit to be consumed. Could've worded it better, as if it was still good to consume but just not resellable. Spreading false info makes people believe that they should throw away items past the best by date and that the dollar store shouldn't be selling things past that date, which isn't technically true.

I'm curious on shipping of the coloring books to Amazon. Obviously you want to make larger shipments at once, but let's say I send enough in to profit $100 when they all sell, what is the shipping to Amazon and their storage fee taking from that if takes 2-4 months to sell through.
@ThriftSchool5 жыл бұрын
2-4 months there will be no storage fee. Shipping should be around $6-$12 total for all of the coloring books, depending on where the warehouse is, in relation to your house.

Right, even if you could make 3 dollars for an item after all fees and shipping it still wouldn't be worth it in my opinion
@jamesx27034 жыл бұрын
One one you said you make like £3 but don't you have to pay to send it to amazon? Or do you just use the systems where you send them all your inventory in one box and they send them out?

After you purchase the books, do you ship them to Amazon or do you ship yourself after selling?
