When the mind is bored, it wants to be fueled with excitement/dopamine. Food is usually the easiest, so try to distract your mind with other engaging things, such as exercise, taking a walk, your favorite hobby, drawing, writing, games etc. It's also good to have healthy snacks laying around if your cravings really get the best of you or if you're just a bit hungry. Just be mindful about the food you're consuming. I hope this helps!

My mother is literally the one to sabotage all of my health goals 😂😂 she literally brings everything BAD from the grocery store whether it’s cookies, chocolate, ice cream, chips, noodles... and I’m a bored eater so whenever I go to the kitchen i grab something. It doesn’t matter if I was full or not. If the food is there I WILL EAT IT 😭
@KPDanni7 жыл бұрын
Maybe ask your mother to put all those sorts of foods somewhere else. It truly does help. My boyfriend is the same, he always wants junk food around and would usually put it in the pantry where everything else is kept. So every time I open the cupboard to say.. reach for spices when cooking dinner or whatever it may be, the junk is RIGHT THERE! I’ve asked him to keep all the shit food in his “snack cupboard” which is in a part of the kitchen I never use. Not having it accessible and at eye level will help you A LOT if you are lacking the will-power to simply tell yourself “no”. Maybe she can even avoid letting you know that she has bought it at all, that way you don’t need to fight the inner turmoil of knowing it’s in the house. Also, the mindset of “I can have that, but I don’t want it” rather than “I want that, but can’t have it” really helps too. Good luck :)

Dear: Rachel Aust & strangers who might read this; This video comes at a great time to me, like most of your videos do. I have just begun to change my mindset since I am a person who procrastinates (everything) and in the last 2 years due to a bad marriage, I put on a lot of weight. My goal is to train and take care of myself to be able to lose the extra body weight I have gained. I want to go back to my size 3/5 jeans and my Small shirts I want to be back in weight limit of 49-50kg and not 20 kg over like I am at this moment! Thank you, Rachel you are the best and such an inspiration. Sincerely Silvia Covarrubias

Good luck on your journey Silvia! It's really refreshing to hear about someone's story straightforward like that, so thank you for sharing. I know it will take effort but I'm sure we can do it!

I already left totally the sodas (even the non calories ones) and making the vegetables the base of all my foods,making sure that I'm drinking enough water and trying to leave desert as an extra meal, sweets are my perdition, I freaking love them but I'm making it myself, so I can know what's in them and change it to make them "healthier", whit no added sugar, whole grains and all the good stuff

Even though I'm part of the current ERL12 group, I needed this reminder, so thank you! It's nice to have an actual action plan versus generic tips as I find that for me, writing down my goals always keeps me on track. I maintain momentum by setting monthly goals (getting stronger, lifting heavier) as well as daily goals (more toe pushups, mindful reflection, etc.) because they are regular check-ins for me. Truth be told, last week, I had no inkling to exercise or eat healthy, which is strange because I haven't stopped since I started. However, after I was trying to convince myself to blow off my workout, I sat and truly thought about why I wanted to avoid my workouts, how it would affect my future goals, and if skipping them would get me there. That was all I needed to talk myself back into it. We are our own worst enemy when it comes to getting our mindset where it needs to be and slowing down to think about why we do what we do. :) I hope you're well! ♥

Hell Notes For Beauty, hi! I study bodybuilding KZbin channels, and they all say fitness is 70% diet, 30% exercise. I'm not a bodybuilder, but I respect their discipline and pay attention to their advice. I'm interested in hiking, bicycling and tree climbing. I prefer to stay lean, but stay muscular. Still, those bodybuilders know what they're talking about. A good source is bodybuilder.com. They've got a good KZbin channel, too. Best wishes and great health!:)

Rachel, your health journey was the one that inspired me to make changes in my own diet and life. Now about six months, I can say I'm at a happy place with my body. I've lost weight and gained muscle i didn't know I was capable of gaining. I want to keep improving my physique but I'm comfortable in my own skin. I am hoping to apply these tips to other problematic areas of my life like procrastinating in school. Your content increased my standards for the type of people I follow now. I don't care as much about what people buy or have anymore, I care more about how they inspire and give to their viewers. Your content is worth my time and that's the truth. Never stop doing what you do.

1) go easy on yourself, you don’t have to feel guilty 2) figure out why you’re failing to eat clean/ can’t make it (is it stress, convenience??) 3) find healthier choices (bad eating is not the solution) 4) find specific goals that you can achieve > break it down so it’s easier 5) go through your pantry, get rid off that bad food guuuuuurl 6) talk to people you live with about your goals and why it’s important to you 7) New routine, but small steps 8) make sure you eat enough 9) eat meals that you would like, look for inspiration 10) make a commitment to yourself > turn motivation into habits 🧡🧡 thank you so much for this helpful video

My husband and I are pretty intense weight lifters and we started keto 2 months ago after gaining a little bit of fat from stress from buying a house and all the shenanigans that come with it.. I started it because I got really bad headaches all the time and I was constantly hungry and was taking tons of caffeine. My husband struggled with eating sugary snacks to cope with stress. This lifestyle change has helped us a lot. I'm currently trying to cut processed dairy out. I have a mildly obsessive trait when it comes to health things (borderline hypochondriac). So I'm learning to not be too hard on myself and trust the process. (There are a lot of keto fanatics on KZbin that can make you feel rather intimidated) Thanks for having an easy going and inspirational channel. Xx I do have a question that I haven't gotten a clear answer on from research, I have a mildly sedentary life right now other than when I go to the gym everyday and doing house work/walking my dog. If I want to maintain/increase my strength and drop my body fat % should I still eat in a caloric deficit? Any insight would greatly appreciated.
@shushuchan29137 жыл бұрын
Courtney Minx please please please consult a professional doctor and/or nutritionist about the calorie deficit, because this should not ever be decided without medical supervision. It's so important for the long run. lots of love and good luck on your journey ♡
@raraavis77827 жыл бұрын
Courtney Minx Hi there! I do keto and weightlifting, too, so I can relate to your struggle ☺. I really wanted to loose some weight I had sneakily gained over the last 3 years and I've found that while the fat melts off pretty easily while in ketosis, my performance suffers just as much from calorie restriction now than on a mixed macros diet. Lost 13 pounds (that's without the water weight) very quickly but all my 1RMs droped by 15 %. I kinda wish now, I had taken things more slowly....I went with a 20% calorie reduction...1800kcal/day, so I was by no means starving myself...but still...😯. So my recommendation is: don't go for more than a pound/week at most...it's very tempting because keto makes it so easy...but you'll likely pay the price in the gym. Also 'the keto podcast for women' is a great resource. Not fitness related, but tons of great info regarding keto and health issues, like hormone imbalances. It really helped me to better understand what happens in my body and also what the potential benefits/pitfalls for a women on keto are.
@courtneyminx54087 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm between 1700-1800 calories a day as well depending on my activity level but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have metabolic damage by doing something crazy. My strength is down a little bit but I feel like I could go all day. Thank you for the insight and I'll definitely check out that podcast.

Sometimes its important to listen to your cravings cuz its your body talking to you. I am doing keto and drastically increasing my training. This left me so low but i found out if i have a small portion of carbs after training i wake up the next day full of energy and able to clean the house run after the kids and do my training. Thank you for this really informational video! I think the problem with me is I tend to forget all the amazing things my body is doing for me and how much it loves me to be fighting to keep me alive continuously and that the least I can do is treat it right: eating healthy 90% of the time, drinking lots of water, reducing stress, exercising or just being more active. All of the emotional eating, the bingeing, the cravings: they seem so irrelevant and *small* when you consider just how much your body does for you each day, and asks for nothing in return. It's your duty to treat it right.

Bea Render I guess birth control which let you not have a period at all doesn’t fit you? I personally feel more balanced, most of the time, when on birth control than off. Both when I was normalweight and had combined where you have those days with sugarpills and a ”fake” period... And now overweight on ”mini” with one kind and no period at all. Otherwise bloated, drinking too little water?

MissVasques xxx I am not on any birth control I can not find one that is ok with my body. I can not have the injection it went completely wrong I ended up with blood transfusion. The mini pills give me headaches and breakouts. The implant I can not have as it is same as the injection. The coil is too painful. So a part from becoming a nun lol I really do not know what to do. I am on 2-3 liters of water I have following your food recipes xxx Thank you for getting back to me xx

Bea Render i personally am on no hormonal birth control and its the best decision. To reduce bloating limit your animal proteins such as dairy, eggs and meat - if not all the time, just around the week of your period. Also look into using a cup or pads instead of tampons. There's so many things you can do

Hey Rachel! Thank u for your videos that bring us support and motivation. I personnally am a binge eater and I usually eat without feeling hungry when I am bored , stressed , angry ........ this habit of mine dates back to my childhood as my parents used to give me much food to eat and it was mainly healthy food but when I grew up I started to get addicted to sugary stuff and sometimes even spicy and salty . I tried many times to control myself but whenever I get angry with studies I fall off track and start eating whatever is in front of him.I also lack in self-confidence and loose faith in myself really quickly. I am right now in serious help as I begun living alone and my eating disorder got way worse than it was + I became overweight which is a serious threat for my health.I find no problem with training .I thought you'd be the one person that would give me an advice to overcome this obstacle, as you know already the habits we develop while being a child aren't that easy to get rid of . P.S.:I wanted to also know if a ketogenic would help with my sugar cravings.

Hey I love this video, just rewatched with a pen and paper. I've got to say though I don't eat any junk at all, my problem is the quantity or volume I eat or the binge - so if I have a jar of almond butter I eat the whole thing or if I make 'healthy no sugar' treats again I eat them all. I have no self control 🙈🙈

Wendy Pokato Ha, same here! It's much better now, on keto, but I still can't have certain 'trigger foods' at home. Nuts and nutbutters, dark chocolate, cheese or salami or stuff like that. I've just accepted that the fact, that my brain is wired that way and that I can't have them around. It's not a personal failing, you know? Other people don't have more self control than you...they just don't crave these things as much as you do! There's a reason recovering addicts have to stay away from everyone and everything that might tempt them to 'indulge' again...because self control won't keep you sober for long if you're constantly tempted. You just have too stay away....

I loved this video! Thank you so much Rachel. Okay, I want to lose about 35 kilos to be healthy. I want to be able to have a blouse on and not having my stomach and bum sticking out. I just want to have energy to live the life that I love. To be able to do so Many things without feeling like argh.. i've been doing keto also because of pcos and Even thought i have a little bread here and there (mostly because being keto in Denmark is crazy expensive) but I love eating so much fat. I feel satisfied. I just really want to lose the weight and feel really relaxed in my own body. In other words so the energy of my soul and be used with the body that I love. I've treated it badly now i want to make a change! Lots of love and support from Denmark ♡♡ to everyone, lets crush our goals! ♡♡

Hi Rachel! I started keto 3 weeks ago and I feel good about it. Even if some friends and family members don’t really support me, I carry it on for myself. Next week I will be on a trip for five days, where I can’t take my food with me. There will be some eating out and also we will be going to a festival, where the food choices are definitely not the best. Do you have some advice on how not to go out of ketosis in such a situation? Keep on the good work, hugs from Switzerland! :*

HAHAH I am sooo guilty of just binge-eating every junk in my pantries in order to get rid of it to start fresh. Annoying. Thank you so much for the video!

What are your thoughts on using prescription meds to reduce cravings? Three months ago, my doctor prescribed me Naltrexone to reduce both food and alcohol cravings. Since then I've lost 25 pounds, cut out drinking alcohol completely, and I no longer crave snacks at night, which used to be a big problem for me. I'm still eating what I would consider normal meals, just in smaller portions. I'm exercising about six hours a week, same as before taking the pills. I haven't noticed any side-effects from the medication at all. It just seems too easy. Do you think there's a downside to what I'm doing?

Hey! First I love your channel, I always get excited when I see you’ve posted a new video. You’re so encouraging and motivating. I do have a question. I used to drink coffee for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My energy and mood depended heavily on my coffee. I realized this was not a healthy habit so I’ve switch to herbal tea and I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t add sugar. However my question is - is tea with caffeine unhealthy? I drink green tea or black tea in the morning and with my lunch and then I drink a tea with a chamomile base before bed. I want to be as healthy as I can and I feel a difference ever since cutting out coffee, soda and energy drinks but I want to make sure I’m not doing damage with the tea I drink.
