Have you heard of gold nanoparticles? We do a super cool experiment, showing you how to make gold nanoparticles, and looking at what happens when they interact with light. The gold particles turn red, blue, and black!
We also look at what happens when we add salt, something that increases the size of the nanoparticles! What happens when salt is added? Watch to find out! Please like comment, and share this video to get more cool science video suggestions.

Gold nanoparticles are amazing but the reasoning behind the color change is probably the most amazing thing about it!

Looks great! Loved this experiment. I was unaware of the photo-electric effect of the gold particles which gave the difference in colors. Nice work!

I was interested in the color change reasoning but I'm confused by your explanation of higher frequency light ( longer) wavelength. Higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths.
@Lawtonfl
@Lawtonfl Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! In the video we were attempting to refer to longer wavelengths not higher frequencies but the wording we used was not the best. I will make sure to address this. I appreciate you pointing this out! We probably should have made that a bit more clear with a diagram. The underlying premise is that the larger particles absorb longer wavelengths of light. This wavelength is actually equal to the particle diameter Thanks!

One of the best noted point is that gradually changing the color from red to royal blue or purple , regarding these colours we know the best sizes of Gold nano particles. Thanks with best regards.🤗🌹🤗
