Game changing help here. I’ve been spraying silicon lube on my window tracks for 5 years and still needed Herculean strength to open and close them. After I greased the 20 year old spiral valences they open almost like new windows. You saved me at least $10k in replacement costs. It took me about two hours to do 7 windows. Much appreciated and great video.

You are welcome, Kathleen. Cleaning & putting silicone on the tracks should do the trick. It's possible you encounter a common problem. If the sashes are not opened a couple of inches before tilting them in, the pivot bars can jump out of the pivot shoes. You may find this situation when cleaning/lubing the windows. I have another video that explains how to fix this problem. I'll put the link below. Have a great day. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnPcqWudo991bKM

WD-40 is not a lubricant, I often use it to clean parts that have old grease on them. I'd stick with the white lithium grease. Hi I just looked at brand new construction home ( SFH stick/frame) in a new community and of the four model homes I could not find one window that opened or closed easily. closing was impossible without huge struggle. *Even my big strong friend struggled* The windows are similar to the ones shown here in your video vinyl /up down. etc. I have need to adjust windows frequently with some ease. My concern is were they done properly. the rental i live in. (SFH stick frame) was brand new and each vinyl windows open /closed no struggle. How do I approach the manufacturer or agency Im working with about my concern?
@Know-How-Now4 ай бұрын
I would be wary if brand new windows are difficult to open/close. I agree with your concern that they are not properly installed. If you don't get a good answer from the builder, I would be wary of buying anything from that builder. Who knows what else is wrong.
