It worked! My daughter said you can fine everything on KZbin, so I checked and, fortunately, yours was the first video I watched. I had one shoe that didn't want to slide, but I kept at it. We tried and tried, but the key was we actually measured and put a mark in the channel 8 inches up, moved the shoes to exactly the same height, and wow, it worked like a charm! Thanks.

YO .... this video helped me immensely ; I thought I was doomed !! the only additional note I would say is make sure you are prepared when using the screw driver in the shoe -- keep pressure on your hand BECAUSE IF YOU DON"T THE SHOE WILL FLY UP AND SMASH THE TOP .... Thank you so much for sharing this video. My windows are fairly new and I called my window company because when cleaning one of them it was so hard to lift and lower. My warranty was expired (of course) and I was going to be charged $200 for someone to come out and I’m not sure if that covered the fixing of the window as well. I am very handy so when I saw this video I knew I could do it. Took about 5 min total. I also cleaned the tracks and wiped everything down. Added a little silicone spray to the tracks as well and wiped off the excess. Reconnected the window and it was like brand new again!!! Lifted and closed it with one hand 😁👍🏼

WOW! SUPER SIMPLE FIX. I accidentally stumbled across this post.(My husband did commercial glazing & I could never get him to fix our windows at home! He would hire out. Excellent video. I've just figured out that my shoes were stuck with the latches at the top. I had to take the shoes down by that QUARTER turn and bring them down about eight inches as explained by Jim Markey. One needs to make sure that after moving the shoes up/down to that eight inches from the bottom to turn back to normal position before releasing the hand and the screw driver, otherwise, the shoes will slide back to the top where the latches are. The most important part of the video, in my opinion, is turning the shoes to quarter and moving it up/down to position it (eight or so inches from the bottom) then turning it back to normal position before releasing your hand and the screw driver.

Thank you so much for this well explained video. At 3:30 in the morning as I was sleeping I heard my wife opening the window since it was hot. I’m I don’t what she did, in a few minutes later, a loud noise woke me up. That was the bottom part of the window that came out of the lock. I struggled to put it back but, it could not go down. On my way to work, I decided to check for some solutions and came to your video. Wow!!! That is a life saver. You explain the issue and the solution so well and follow your tutoring and didn’t take me a good 2 minutes to fix something that I spent over an hour. Thanks again and God bless.

Thank you for this video. I had done what you said in your video and the window had come partly out of the shoe. It was an easy fix (a few taps ) to get the foot back in the shoe. window slides easily again. No sprays or lubricants. I had watched a bunch of other videos but none explained the issue like yours did . Again, thank you.

Thank goodness i knew there was something that made it slide i couldnt see it replaced the cracked glass when i put the window in it went in but wont go up and down now i have to take it out again to get it in the shoe ive watched 10 videos and not 1 talked about this i knew i wasnt getting what i needed until i found this one how stupid was i thank you so much just scared to take it back out i have bad hands go to sleep sewing and quilting all my life

OH MY GOODNESS! It may sound silly, but I've been dealing with this issue for a few years, aggravating. These windows were installed by my mom in 2008...(company is out of business now) Window will NOT stay up, unless I stick a piece of wood to prop it open, it's back office where windows are rarely open, so guess you can call it "out of sight, out of mind" (eh). But these are the exact same chutes in this window. I'll take a look at this later today..and if this is the problem & simple solution..wow! Thank you in advance! I HOPE this is what the issue is!

Very helpful! Thank you. I actually found that I had a different problem though, as I was going through your example. My door has two flexible flaps around the shoes on both sides of the sash. I also had to move/adjust them so that the flaps were not impeding the shoe from moving up and down. Maybe you could show that situation in another video? I think that would help a lot of people too.
