We designed the Hov Pod to be easy to drive, so did away with unnecessary levers and controls. You have left and right steering by handlebar, and throttle twist grip to go faster, on switch, off switch. The trim is set to be optimised in the factory, we fit anti plough skirts.

Hovercraft are weight dependent vehicles, so many people make them out of very thin glass fibre, which we do not think is suitable for hovercraft over rough terrain, like concrete, tarmac, on the beach or over ice, so we use HDPE or Carbon Fibre / Kevlad composite. WE used to use glass fiber, but no longer do so.

how does water not get into the hull through the holes when you stop on water? I am considering building a hovercraft and really need to know thanks.

what fan dia., thrust lbs., blade pitch, and blade count did you eventually find optimal, against vehicles dry weight, and load capacity within the power plants engineered power band r.p.m. range? I'm inquiring about these design characteristics primarily due to a desire I've to build a h/c, / ground effect based variant of my own for quite some time now. Until such time arrives ripe w/ sufficient accumulation of aerodynamic efficiency test proofs I'm just gathering as much advice as i can.

hey we are plannin for a project,and we are makin the body with a 12 mm ply and using a bag skirt and are approximating weight to be 100-120 kg includin the person sitting engine etc.just want to know what type of fan should be used and what thrust should be produced?please try and reply fast

So...what do you do? I work in a hovercraft factory. ...awesome.

Hovercraft are not difficult to build we supply sub assemblies, but recommend you come for training - you probably don't save a great deal making your own hovercraft once you factor in time, tools and overheads.

There is a flaw in the way they designed that hovercraft when it comes to the steering. The steering fins are too wide so you don't get as much control as you should. Go look at the way the back of the hovercraft is set up and you'll see that the steering routers are too far apart. Other than that it's a pretty cool design that you can't use that if you're building a humbling because it doesn't supply enough air underneath the skirt for taking off the water surface.

Hi, what is the material for light weight of the body? could it be a home made material?
@HovPodHovercraft9 жыл бұрын
huu thanh tran Hello, the Hov Pod SPX TCC model is made from HDPE or High Density Polyethylene, a molded hull, so this process is very expensive to set up. We do sell partially assembled hulls for local assembly, but on condition that customers attend a 3 day training course in the UK. Our other hovercraft is manufactured from Carbon Fibre / Kevlar and HDPE. For more info contact us via www.hovercraft.org

thanks Hov Pod Hovercraft, it is a great help, i know how to caculate engine power, fan flow, air cushion flow, tube, bag and finger skirt design, but i dont know how to mold the hull using HDPE and its procedure. can i have more details about the procedure to mold the hull? thanks a lot.

After visiting several hovercraft manufacturers, I must say this outfit seems the most professional and their craft have a little more attention to detail and a more fettled finish. I'm kinda regretting buying a Marlin 3 from 'Flying Fish' in Kent, now known as 'British Hovercraft Company' They're clearly not on par with 'Hovpod'

Hi, we are unable to assist directly on self assembly, but you should be able to get help through hovercraft club forums by searching on the internet. We do offer a local assembly version of the Hov Pod but we are not familiar with your engine, we recommend Rotax and Weber Automotive engines for high power, low weight essential for hovercraft as they are weight dependent vehicles.

There are two different spellings for aluminum, or in Europe aluminium. The English from England use aluminium, our American cousins who claim to speak English, get a few words wrong, but that's ok, we still understand them most of the time.
@HovPodHovercraft11 жыл бұрын
You need a more powerful engine, at least 60 HP with high power to low weight ratio.

We use polyurethane / anti rip weave nylon 375 gsm, having rejected neoprene coated nylon which degrades via exposure to UV (Sunlight) - we also rejected Hypalon which tears too easily. We now supply skirts for hovercraft so please contact us via hovpod dot com for more information
