John Creasey that’s because I pre warm up the belt before recording. Otherwise it screeches and burps for awhile. Even tried belt conditioning spray with mixed result. What I do for my viewers 🤦🏻‍♂️😆

PS: I will have to check out Stefan's video to see why the design includes a top-screw and push rod, rather than just a bottom screw.

Gday Yuchol, nice boring bars, the stainless wrap for heat treating really does make a difference, I seen Keith Rucker use one the in he’s last video and worked very well, and so did Adam, thanks for sharing another great video, please stay safe, Cheers Matty

I like the central rod bit locking method, that's a good idea. I need better boring bars for my smaller boring head and might need to 'appropriate' your idea.

Lot better than the cheap soft shank boring bars. When you try to remove them the set screw has made a deep imprint in the shank.

Why are they hardened? For that matter, why O1 steel?
@woodscreekworkshop9939
@woodscreekworkshop9939 4 жыл бұрын
Jeff Kurtock you want boring bars to be as rigid has possible without making them glass hard (would shatter). Rigidity allows consistent dimensions on parts you’re machining.
@jeffkurtock6726
@jeffkurtock6726 4 жыл бұрын
@@woodscreekworkshop9939 Rigidity is measured by elastic modulus. Elastic modulus doesn't change with hardening. www.researchgate.net/post/Will_the_Youngs_Modulus_E_value_change_with_heat_treatment . I would expect that hardening boring bars will make them, well, harder. But it shouldn't make them more rigid, or stiffer.

What model narex head? I have 2 narex vhu 36 in really good condition and one narex vhu80 which is also in good condition but definately more used than the 36's. I really like them, last time i did internal snap ring grooves, radial feed is nice to have :) Really nice boring bars!
