I forgot to say that I hate tracing but I do it so I can use the pattern multiple times. I use a huge roll (very wide) of tracing paper from the online shop for industry sewing supplies Morplan. It comes in about 50 metres and is very cost effective. It also means you can get really big pattern pieces out of it. I’m not sure it’s quite as see through as Swedish tracing paper though :-( Diana

Ooh such lovely choices of fabrics. Silver for a definite as Christmas approaches. A mix of olive and the red. And not forgeting the animal print has to be a must as well. I think the other two are just as nice but in my opinion they are spring and summer colours, I think it would be nice if you showed the paper patens from the book as I for one would like to see what they look like and how confusing it would be to trace them, xx

I bought the stretch book when it came out but still haven't made any of the patterns. TBH I've migrated to those designers that include cup sizes. Tilly doesn't. Her patterns are focussed on B cup sized sewers which exclude many of us.

I don’t mind tracing too much. My sewing room window is a good big size and so I blue tac the pattern to the window and blue tac the plain paper over the top. Upsides of doing this are that you don’t have to bend over a table to reach and trace, the light shines through even quite thick paper so you don’t have to trace onto flimsy tissue paper (which I hate with a passion) and it’s much much quicker when you’re upright. No backache yay!!

Wowzers!!! I love this idea- a lot!!!

Hi Juliet, I have never traced a pattern! I make photocopies of the pattern pieces. If it's a big pattern piece I copy the different areas and glue the pieces together. It's very simple. The just cut out the pattern pieces.

I like the abstract jersey fabric. You could do mix and match or just the neckband say and trimmings. I also like the shiny fabric but better in Autumn maybe. I like the olive leopard print but again going into summer the abstract jersey no 2. Id recommend this book too! 🤗 I may do this challenge with my goddaughter who bought the book when she saw mine.

I hated it at first with the teaching wheel. I started teaching on [gift] tissue paper instead. That made it so much better. I just have having to tape pieces of the paper together for large pattern pieces. I'm going to check out the Swedish teaching paper you mentioned. Hopefully that will be big enough.

Love Tilly and the Buttons, May order book. I was thinking the same with the abstract and wine, as the abstract looked like it has a bit of wine color in it, thinner fabric could be sleeves or even a frill detail. The silver fabric would look good as a blazer/jacket with a soft tie belt. I choose option 6 Green animal print. Brilliant video as usual. 👍🏾
@JulietUzor_4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. The silver fabric i feel like it hasn’t much body to be used as a blazer... I might be wrong

I enjoy tracing for the most part, but I have always used the method you use now. I would have torn out my hair with that old fashioned way with the tracing wheels and such. I use that paper Medical Doctors use to cover the exam table.. it is a bit narrower, but I haven't had issues with it not being wide enough, and tape works well should it become an issue. I find it to be less expensive than what I have available to me locally or online. I am likely too late for my vote to matter in the end, but I am smitten, strongly, to the first abstract. Eagerly waiting on my preorder in the States. :)

@@JulietUzor_ Another tip I hesitate to put out there but is super useful in some instances is to use clear plastic drop cloth, like you find in the paint supply. As long as you don't hang your patterns to store them, the plastic will stay in the same shape (no stretching). I don't like putting more plastics out there.. but, if you have some on hand or need a pattern to put up with a bit of abuse, that stuff is a bit of a miracle. :) This is the first video I have seen of yours and I am looking forward to viewing more. :)
