Best video from any Mike Shinoda, LP or FM album. I got introduced to Mike's solo music first because I lost both parents in the same way as Chester, and my friend said, "Listen to this. Someone else understands." I've cried to this album, laughed to many tracks, punched my pillow, and finally got up to finish up my poetry book (got pushed back to my own grief). This album said, "Get off your ass and go create. No one will hate you for it." So, now I grieve through my pen. "I got demons inside me...I give them a voice." Anyway, worked through the FM catalog, then evey LP song ever as well as a gazillion live videos and interviews on YT. Now, I want to make him proud as well. Wow. That voice. I guess I'm strange for being a 44 year old woman starting with Mike and working backwards, but I'm now a die hard fan of whatever Mike does...music, art, etc. But, selfishly, I hope he releases more albums in the future. And, love Anna's book. Creative family! See you in Dallas!

I noticed something very subtle but also very "in your face" about this video that is amazing: Almost all the scenes with the woman, she has yellow around her, and some of the times the guy is alone (on scenes it seems that happens after she died), theres yellow around him but it always fades away, and theres also the yellow cube around his head almost like a cage. To me it seems like she was the light of his life and she's gone, but he can still feel her light when he remembers her, even if is temporary, but sometimes it gets on his head, especially because it seemed like she was a joyful person and apparently she died by suicide. Not to mention this music video was released in september, which it has the "yellow september" campaign to prevent suicide. Idk, i might be trippin but this really struck a chord on me. Is sad to see the paralels, but is also beautiful and delicate.

At first it seems like the guy and the girl are in a relationship. But as the song goes on, you realise what it's really about: Losing a loved one. Mike, you did it again. This is A MA Z I N G. I just watched it and I am stunned. Like seriously. Just look at how well-thought and symbolical this is. First of all, the style. I often visualise my own music video when I listen to a song. And this video is exactly the style and mood I saw in my head when I listened to that song before. Vibrant, damaged pictures, sketchy outlines, face made of diffrent pieces - fits the song perefectly and, in my opinion, shows how Mike was doing / is doing after that tragedy we all know about. Secondly, the plot of this vid and symbolism. My thoughts are wild right now so I'll write down what (in my opinion) is shown in here: - till the plot twist on the bridge I thought that the guy in cap symbolises Chester. The tattoos, broken bone around ankle / broken ankle (that x-rays are put in here intentionally), happiness issues (that red baloon with smiley face that broke). But the bridge scene leads me towards thought that this guy is literally Mike. Post traumatic Mike, lost, broken, with problems to come back to what made him happy, yet persistent, honoring and remembering his friend even though it's not easy - the lady we see throughout the video and which has a memorial place on the bridge... Died by suicide? The place is above the rails and the letters that are laying there... Maybe I am overthinking it right now. She seems very important to the cap guy, looking lively, wise. She may symbolise Chester in here... - overall, this video is masterpiece. Editing and style is on point, plot and (probably) references are out there. I am sorry if this sounds mad or made somebody feel bad. That's just what I saw in this vid. Sorry for launguage - I am not native and it's very late in here. I'd love to discuss the interpretation with somebody, feel free to share what do you think. Love, Kasia. And once again thank you again for being there Mike. For just being Mike
@ondraspendlik97596 жыл бұрын
I think you're right. I also thought she might have symbolized Chester, and I also saw the similarities of the guy both with Chester and Mike. Thanks for telling me the rest that I didn't notice. I gotta say it feels a bit scary to me. Not even a year ago, a girl from my school, seemingly really happy and full of life (and everyone who knew her said that it just didn't seem like she's happy, she actually was), died by suicide on train tracks. Her friends are still coming down to that place regularly to light up candles. She would celebrate her 19th birthday just few days ago, she was just few weeks younger than me. When thinking about this, it feels very scary, it's basically the exactly same scene. God, I didn't know her, but I feel the pain of everyone who knew her and I really miss her
@fortkas77216 жыл бұрын
The similarity between story of the video and the one you wrote is really big. And it is terryfing. I am sorry that you experienced that, are you certain it's ok now? Hope you have someone to talk to about this kind of things. It is terrifying that we live in a world where that things happen. And it's happening more and more often. What scares me the most is how awful, cruel and dark world we live in that people are left with thought that their only way to end pain is suicide... Humans can be amazing and blessed creatures but at the same time they are cruel, tricky beasts who (consciously or not) destroy other person's dreams, mind, emotions, psychic. I was once in that dark place, after Chester's passing, and it was truly the worst experience in my life. I thought about the worst, about how I mean nothing and how no-one is going to miss me. I am better now but sometimes it's just... uh. So I make it up as I go. Also, coming back to the video - that red happiness balloon was hanged to that basketball ring by both of them. They tied the happiness together but now when the man is left alone, that balloon has broken. It definitely symbolizing Mike's, Chester's and probably whole band's feelings, relationship.

Fortkas You're right man. Thank you for caring and I hope you're doing well too, because LP soldiers love you brother. I'm doing pretty good now, as I said I didn't know her, just some of my friends did. I talked to bunch of people who were really close to her, her ex boyfriend, her best friend, etc. and they all believed she must have been under influence of some drug to do such thing. You know what some drugs can do to some people, even I often feel emotionally terrible after drinking alcohol. I was in the dark place too, but that tragedy helped me realize how people would feel if I was gone. The whole 2017 was just terrible, in spring, brother of my friend died by suicide, then Chris Cornell, then Chester, day after him brother of my other friend. I didn't know these two guys personally, but it was a shock. They weren't even 30. Then one week before Christmas, this girl I talked about passed away, the same week as another girl from my school died after a car crash (19), one guy I knew died after falling from roof at work (about 40) and my friend, former classmate of the first girl, lost her father, who died during a heart surgery (about 40). All 4 in matter of 7 days, just week before Christmas. It was tragic. I found my way of coping, music and art, started learning guitar and drawing. I made tribute drawings for the two girls (didn't have photos of others). It's strange how you can feel connection to someone you didn't even know. All I know is what their friends told me. I wish all those people were here, happy and well, and I wish all the people to also be here, happy and well. That's one of the reasons I want to work on music and art, because I want to help people who struggle, just like guys from LP helped me

Hey Mike, just wanted to say thank you for making this song (and thank you to all of those involved, K.Flay, Antoni, everyone really) I was sixteen when I first head this and I don't know what struck the chord with me. I have been coming back to it frequently during quarantine and all throughout it really gave me strenght when I couldn't qualify for a college entrance exam. I was so alone and lonely and I stupidly thought that there are no words for what I feel and yet when I came back to this song and listened to it again, it suddenly had a whole new meaning. Suddenly, someone understood what I was going through when I write and write but nothing good comes out or when I study all day and yet still fuck it up somehow. I am a little bit wiser and am gonna attempt the college entrance exams again, I am hoping I get in, but anyway thank you for helping me through this shitshow.

I am going through my own personal struggle with clinical depression right now and dealing with major demons to put it mildly... I have always loved and related to all of y'alls music and thank y'all so much for that! Music is like therapy for me and the music that Linkin Park and Mike has made has helped me through some very difficult times. The interview when Chester talks about being inside his own head is the worst place to be couldn't explain me any better. I just love y'alls music and thanks so much for keeping it going.

One of the best and most underrated tracks from this amazing album, should be a hit on the charts! Also the whole video is just spectacular, great job on those special effects.

I heard this song on the radio and it just hit me in a way a song hasn't in a really long time. Like what they mean when they say 'you feel in it your soul.' And I remembered why I fell in love LP all those years ago.

It probably won't care for anyone but when I was fifteen(almost 9 years ago) I lost a close friend. It was a long way to health myself and now, when I hearing this album I remember everything all the pain that I felt and somehow It makes me better. Like they said in "Iridescent", remember all the sadness and frustration and let it go. Thank you Mike for make this with your pain, you are really strong.

Well, personally, I'd been trying not to spoil too much of the album for myself until I got the chance to buy it, but I'm realising now that won't be anytime soon, so I went "ah flip it, if he put them online it's 'cuz he wants us to check them" so here I am. Also I got into BIONICLE in the meantime so that distracted me for a bit. Pretty much my only dose of LP these days has been their LPU demos. Awesome stuff there.

I wounder... I thought that there's millions of LP fans but...infortunetly not for Mike 😔😔

It’s because they think that “rap or pop” isn’t there style. Even when it’s from Mike’s heart. 😔 They only understand what they want and that LP was and is about joining all different types of genres... I still can’t believe so many people just let Mike down after Chester. They just left Mike. But we’re still here for him, right?? 😇!Stay in the positive side! :)

I keep on running backwards, I keep on losing faith I thought I had the answers, I thought I knew the way My brother said be patient, my mother held my hand I don't what I'm chasing, I don't know who I am Woke up this morning holding my head Thinking last night is one of regret Washing off the bad decisions, the blurry vision The clues that I'm still a mess Spitting out the taste I have in my mouth Knowing what this all is really about Knowing there's an explanation, an expiration I gotta figure shit out And they're asking me if I can see the darkness down below And I know it's true, I say I do, and half the time I don't Maybe I can't make what it may take to leave this thing behind But I shut my eyes and cross each line and every time I keep on running backwards, I keep on losing faith I thought I had the answers, I thought I knew the way My brother said be patient, my mother held my hand I don't what I'm chasing, I don't know who I am Waking in the dead of night, I can't sleep Sleeping in the light of day for like weeks Reality was out of focus, I could be hopeless Instead I gritted my teeth I didn't have the patience left to explain Didn't wanna wait while nobody came I know the path ahead's uneven But while I'm breathing I have to make my own lane And they're asking me if I can see the darkness down below And I know it's true, I say I do, and half the time I don't Maybe I can't make what it may take to leave this thing behind But I shut my eyes and cross each line and every time I keep on running backwards, I keep on losing faith I thought I had the answers, I thought I knew the way My brother said be patient, my mother held my hand I don't what I'm chasing, I don't know who I am So I make it up as I go, ooh-oh, ooh-oh I make it up as I go, ooh-oh, ooh-oh So I make it up as I go, ooh-oh, oh-oh I make it up as I go, as I go Keep on running backwards, I keep on losing faith I thought I had the answers, I thought I knew the way My brother said be patient, my mother held my hand I don't what I'm chasing, I don't know who I am So I make it up as I go, ooh-oh, ooh-oh I make it up as I go, ooh-oh, ooh-oh So I make it up as I go, ooh-oh, oh-oh I make it up as I go, as I go

In these days, where technology makes it easy to record music and make videos which revolves to a lack of creativity, uniqueness - I'm really happy to see that the genre of making creative music videos is not dead. Great Idea with teasing the video the "analog" way through post service (worldwide). We need more of this creativity from back in the days, when you collected tour posters or album covers also because of their creativity.
