Make Japanese Omron Switches fit any mouse! Omron D2F-01F Height Fix

Hot tip alert! Had to try it and make these switches an easy recommend for gold plated light force switches. Big thanks to @Zammin4 and @ZyrkowskiKevin on twitter!

Hey Ents, how do you fix warped plastic on mice? I think I heated up my g pro superlight's shell too much and now it has this crunching sound each time I grip down the sides

I use my fingernails for the Chinese omrons. I have to use an exacto for the Japanese omrons because my tweezers are too beat up. For anyone considering doing this, I’d recommend personally to buy extra Japanese omrons because it’s very easy to damage the leaf.

Thanks so much for this! I wouldn't've thought it was possible to open the Japanese Omron switches, there's barely any gap in the plastic. I ended up using a sharp X-acto knife edge since I didn't have any tweezers thin enough.

Very helpful for replacing my broken Chinese Omron with the superior Japanese ones (quick notes here : Japnese Omron plungers aren't compatible with Kailh's plungers, but you can use Chinese Omron plungers without any problem, not sure about other switches though)

THIS IS LIFE SAVING. I swapped my green D2FC-F-K with the 01F-T but the height is making the lifespan A LOT shorter. The switch itself is nice. UPDATE: Works for G102 as well, both D2F-01F and 01F-T.

Would another solution be to slightly sand the original plunger? It's a very small part of plastic and surely that would be safer than going through the hassle of buying a donor switch and the risk of replacing plungers.

you can try, and it may work, but i do this way because: 1 - no way to accurately sand the same amount on each plunger 2 - plastic dust will get inside switch 3 - i have thousands of dead switches on my workbench to use 4 - this is reversible

d2f-f-3-7 seem to be standard vs d2f-01f which have a higher plunger

I recently purchased these switches from AliExpress, then it was taking long so I also purchased from ebay, the ones from ebay came the have "3181RAK" at the top right, but they felt strange, and didn't sound like I imagined from videos, assumed it was the videos fault, but then earlier today the ones from AliExpress came in, and they have "2747RAE" in the top right which is more commonly the code I see on other people's switches, they have the more snappy sounding click I was expecting and also feel lighter to actuate and according to my scale they are lighter to press, does anyone know what the code in the top right of the switch mean?

I recently soldered new Japanese Omrons into my G903 for the first time. The double clicking issue is now gone but the travel is so much shorter and it’s hard to get used to. Is it worth the hassle to open up the mouse again and switch the plungers?

@@entsfps I think I'm gonna open it back up and just file the plungers down slightly. The taller plungers are functional, but I heard that the lifespan of the switches will drop drastically because of them.

Yo Ents, I have a question about the G Pro Superlight, when clicking and moving the mouse button to the left and right there is a popping sound and feeling after releasing the click. Is this normal? Would replacing the switches in the mouse fix this?

I just hear ppl say switching the switches makes a huge diff so I wanted to try it but should i just leave it stock in your opinion?

I have a G903 lightspeed that has this annoying double click issue, can I use the Japanese OMRONs without this mod? I don't think plunger height will affect that much for the G903. Any thoughts?

it varies mouse to mouse. you can try then if theres a problem swap the plunger
