Fun Fact: Matt and Trey worked with Blizzard (owners and creators of World of Warcraft) who gave them the same assets that the game uses and helped them with the episode. Additionally, Matt tried to get this episode pulled before it aired because he thought it was terribly done, but the network said it was too late... This episode ended up earning an Emmy in 2007 Correction: It was Trey Parker that tried to pull the episode

Fun fact, Trey, one of the creators of SP was so nervous about the episode and thought people would hate it and he actually tried to get the network to pull it before airing and couldn't sleep the night before. It's one of the most iconic episodes ever made! And as to your statement, yes. WoW was and still is a ton of fun! Theres tons of new content, and the graphics are improved. A little detail I like is that usually the villain is shown relaxing and laid back in his chair as he goes around killing people's characters since they pose no challenge to him, but when he is fighting the boys he is forced to actually sit up and try.

The absolute best South Park episode I highly recommend is the one where their parents go to rent a movie for both the kids and the adults. The kids got Lord of the Rings and the adults got a porno. However the tapes ended up getting mixed so the kids ended up with the adult film and the adults ended up with lord of the rings. I promise that episode is more than worth it.

I love this episode despite never playing WOW. I'm not a mouse and keyboard guy. I grew up playing console games with a controller in the early 90s and I always will. But if they made it available on a console I'd give it a try.

Being an already longtime WoW player when this came out, i got every reference aswell as every mistake they made with the game, which i have no doubt were put in purposely to aggrevate the nerds. Matt and Trey wanted to make this episode as at one point they said WoW was on computer screens in the studio about as much as the South Park animation program was, as both them and the crew were addicted to the game, and thus making fun of themselves as well.

And it’s that continual slow loss of that innocence that turns him into a split personality where he is the antagonist. His parents either treated him with apathy or over-concerned. That lack of normalcy in parenting adds to the dichotomy and complexity of Butters. Example: he believed Cartman and lived in the junkyard without question. At the same time, had BD confidence confronting that woman that rescues him.

The story of the Sword of 1000 Truths is a loose reference to a real story about an item called Martin Fury. It was a shirt that had an insta-kill effect, used by developers in testing, but of course never meant for players. During a routine character restoration, a player was accidentally given Martin Fury. They didn't really go on any sort of rampage though; if im remembering right they instakilled a difficult raid boss and that's how it got found. An item with the actual name "Sword of 1000 Truths" wasn't added till after this episode.
