Thx for the videos mate. I am trying to start the same. Started with our 2nd car, I think it's the only Mazda6 in Sydney on Turo. I am not getting as much demand TBH. Only 3 days worth of trips in the past 2 weeks although the availability settings look good. Today I created an Uber account and listed the car there as well but I might just stop it after hearing your opinion there. Lets see how it goes.

I think price and availability are obviously the 2 biggest key areas. You need to be giving guests a reason to choose you over a competitor and even the big rental companies. Try offering airport pick up and drop off services, go to bigW and buy some child booster seats and give them complementary until you can build reviews up. Keep me posted on how you go

@@justmikejames Thanks mate for your responses. I already offer children car seats complimentary. Airport pickups are a bit tricky to offer due to me living away from airport and having a full time job. The car is always available on the calendar with what I think is a competitive price. Good news though is it has been rented for the last 4 days now after I wrote my above comment. Let's see how it goes.

@@justmikejames Hey mate. Thanks for checking on me. Yes. I have been getting consistent bookings since we last talked. The car is currently on its 10th trip and been booked for most of the time. Looking into adding a 2nd car now but still considering whether I should continue using me sole trader or create a company.

Hey man loved the video! I was wondering how are you doing the handover when a client comes pick up? Do they just come and meet up at your chosen location?

Hi mate, yes they do. My main business is a Tyre and Auto store, so it makes it easy for guests to pick up during the day, also safe and secure storage of the cars, and all under cameras if I need anything. For airport I meet each guest and do a walk through and handover. Im at 224 trips and all 5 stars. Im sure there are easier ways but it works for me so far, not sure how it looks once I scale to 20+ cars

I'm thinking about doing this. Thinking about buying a mg 3 ans seeing how that goes. If it goes well I'll buy a 2nd hand ute. I have my own t60 but i don't know if i want to list my personal car on there.

How does the tax work on this. Are you getting a tax break on the depreciation of the car?

you will need to ask a tax agent mate, for your individual circumstances. Mine is set up in a company and abn which has its benefits

Both. You need personal insurance which you should have anyways, which covers for when the car isn’t being hired then you have insurance on Turo for when it is being hired.

@@justmikejamesAppreciate your efforts mate. But somewhere in their policy, I read that we have to inform the Insurance to let them know they are okay to do a car share. But none of the insurance companies in Australia seem to accept even after specifying the car is covered by Turo while on trip.
