I am using follow ups for myself on received emails but did not know it is possible to include it in outgoing emails. Thank you.

Thank you for uploading this. What happens if the recipient responds to the e-mail ahead of the reminder date; will the reminder still be active?

The reminder would still be active until the user completes the task. This can be done by simply clicking on the flag in their inbox to mark the item as actioned or by completing the action item in their To Do/Tasks area.

Would be nice if Outlook just had a simple reminder button to use after emails are sent and awaiting responses. Simply add a reply reminder statement from Outlook at the beginning of the email.

I hear you on that. That would be a great feature, but unfortunately it isn't there at the moment. I know that Gmail does this in the web client (my current workplace uses Workspace) and this feature has saved me from missing emails many times. I'd love for Outlook to pinch it.

Yeah try to do anything with reminders or custom flags in "new outlook" (HORROR) - but this is a nice video ;-) --> one hack to this if you want to be annoying as F... for those recepients -> set reminder to go off at for example 6 am (or any time BEFORE office hours beginn) - in this way mail / notice will appear RED and not to be overseen ;-)

Yeah, currently the Web and New Outlook options don't support this feature, but who knows... It might get there eventually as they look to flesh it out more.

This is almost as bad as the people who send emails with read receipts. However, I do see it as potentially useful in certain scenarios. Just don't make it a habit.

Agreed. As with most features, they have times when they should/should not be used. I almost considered using the "with great power, comes great responsibility" quote regarding when to use this feature.

I'll take a look on my device in a little bit for you, but I'm fairly certain that when Outlook for Mac went through its recent revamp, a lot of those sorts of features that were lesser used were removed from the program entirely.

2 questions: 1) does this work across different office365 tenants 2) how do I disable this on the receiving side?

1: This does work across tenants. It also works with regular consumer addresses such as Outlook or Hotmail. 2: There is no setting on the recipient end to disable this. But should you get an email like this, simply clicking the flag to mark the task as complete would be sufficient to clear the flag and the task.

Google does this on its own. Can Outlook do the same without me manually adding flags and reminders?

I have not known Gmail to be able to replicate this feature of Outlook. There are "nudges" and the ability to "snooze" an email, but those are all on the recipients side. There is no way that I could find to add the reminder from the sender's side. I may well have missed something though and if so, I would love to know how it can be done.

@paulomalley I believe Google stores the data and uses AI to generate reminders to follow up not just on emails but for texts as well. I have Samsung so I'm not sure if this is the same for Apple users

What version of Outlook is this? My flag dropdown does not have the "Add Reminder" feature. It just has Mark Complete or Clear.

This is the Outlook desktop client. The feature is still there in the latest version (2406). If you are using the Outlook (new) client instead, this feature has not been brought over as yet. Make sure that you are looking in the correct menu area. The option only appears in the "Message" tab of the ribbon when you are composing a message.

@@AfricanSafarisCoNz Depending on your setup, you may indeed be on the "New Outlook" already as that has started to roll out to a lot of users as an update to the Desktop application. If you are on it, you will not have this feature just yet.

That seems quite odd as the feature is definitely still there on the latest installed version of the Outlook Desktop client. Are you perhaps using the Outlook (New) client instead? This feature has not been brought over to that version as yet.

The Desktop software can be downloaded from office.com, just sign in with your Microsoft account and there will be an option to download (provided you have a valid licence).
