Noice! Goes to show that compression and saturation make everything better!

I thought with your baritone tones you'd have a killer singing voice. Mine is thin and lacks harmonics and grit but I'm learning to cheat with plugins. 😃

Haha not really - I can do a pretty good Johnny Cash and that's about it.

Yep, I did vocals on that one! That was definitely a bit off the wall, probably the only appearance my vocals will make anytime soon haha.

Loooove the little piano "sound over" while you sorted the chops out. Great great vid, yet again sir. I've been trying to do this type of processing in R11 alone, and it seems quite tricky and limiting. And making my own rex files hasn't yet yielded the results id like, (weird backwards shadows on end of each slice). so Serato sample was on my Christmas list, but, can I ask what you use? or what would you recommend? Still learnt $#!t tons from this vid tho mate. Thanks again VT!

I heard Bitwig.....oooh wazzat now?
@VenusTheory4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! You could probably recreate everything here by using the RV7000 and maybe something like Pulverizer to get that super hyped compression sound with a bit of grit. As for REX loops I actually don't really work with them much myself so I'm not sure there. Whenever I'm doing something like that, I'll just chop things based on a grid value and place them in a drum pad player like Kong or the Drum Rack in Bitwig to more or less get the same type of result.

@@VenusTheory Vital info mate thank you. Aaaaand now I think about it... I'm not sure why I've always gone towards Dr Rex, and struggled. Instead of just chopping and assigning, all neat and tidy. ...I'll blame my parents I think... Cheers pal

Hi Cameron nice video as usual. Can you do a tutorial about pitch bend for built in plugins and 3rd party plugins? I'm trying Bitwig Studio but pitch bend on Bitwig Studio is little bit hard to understand. Also can you share the reasons why are you using Bitwig Studio? Thank you and have a great day!
@VenusTheory4 жыл бұрын
Yo! Not exactly sure what you're referring to with pitch bend but if you can clarify I might be able to help. Otherwise feel free to reach out in my Discord! As for why I use Bitwig, simply put it's a combination of features and workflow. At the moment at least, it's just what best suits what I do both for work and for my own music.

I know you like to tweak the hell out of things, that was quick and easy though. I'm curious, have you ever tried Reaper or Studio One?
@VenusTheory4 жыл бұрын
I actually almost picked up Reaper! Reaper is a really powerful thing, and I might have to give it another look at some point. Studio One I have tried but it's been a while - I heave heard really good things about the recent updates though so maybe I'll give it a spin when time allows.

Yo! It's a bit hard to describe really but in short Oldtimer has a more 'round' and smooth response than other compressors that I'd normally use, it's great for vocals and other similar material that needs something more 'glue-y' than fast and aggressive. PSP has free demos of their plugins, so you can try it out for yourself to hear/compare it!
