Nice work, congrats. What technique did you use for the background?

Have you ever tried using blender to adjust those keys in the graoheditor. Blender does have building function to smooth out keys and remove shakiness

Can you please explain more about the first camera you setup? how we can make that type of movement inside 3DsMax? Thank you.

So in your track view, I notice you have a bunch of the day1refCA custom attributes. If that isn't intentional, it'll bloat and slow down your file save exponentionally as your file size gets larger (a 200MB max file can take 5 minutes to save). It can also have an odd effect, where if you just reset your scene and start a new one or even open an existing file without them, they can be introduced into that depending on how they were created in the scene. I believe there's a script floating around on AREA to get rid of those.

amazing man! hey can i ask - how did you get that backplate in? i always struggle with backplate views - i dont know whether you guys use a background plane? or a semisphere dome ? if you can provide some insight to that i would be so appreciative.
@TextureSupply
@TextureSupply Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the insanely late reply. The backplate was a panorama image placed on a cylinder. To make it blend with the sky of the Hdri I just added a gradient map in the opacity slot to "fade out" the cylinder just above the buildings, of that makes sense.

@@johnny5132 It's this one I shot with a drone. It's not unwrapped at all, just applied to a cylinder, super simple. Thought the panorama is not 360 degrees so I had to increase the horizontal tiling of the texture a little bit. www.dropbox.com/s/53sky3pr3qu25b8/Panorama_LA.jpg?dl=0

What's wrong with the built in tool for smoothing animation tracks in curve editor?
@lordavius
@lordavius 2 жыл бұрын
That is what I was going to suggest. Not trying to downplay the script done, but Max has this built-in function that works more or less the same but is a bit smarter (it takes into account value variation of the tracks across a span of time). Worth trying at the very least. It is on the TrackView->Curves->Simplify Curve

Hmm, the last time I tried the built-in tool I had issues with it altering the path of the camera. Guess I need to give it another go :-)

@@TextureSupply I would love to replicate the rig you’re using, but I have no idea how you’re connecting the stepper motor to make the camera/backdrop rotate. ….and the software, some of us are more technically challenged than others, so you’ve already got the software figured out. Is that something you would be willing to release/sell?

Thanks for the nice video. I see that in your graph editor you have a bunch of custom attributes, all called "day1refCA". Sometimes, when merging stuff from older scenes into my project, these appear in my scenes, too. And from then on saving/opening is getting really really slow. So if you're experiencing that, have a look at those custom attributes. I use a small macro to get rid of these by a simple button click. After that my scene works a lot better. But maybe you're already aware of that 🙂 Keep up the good work!

Is there is any alternative for CamTrackAR for Android? I couldn't find any
@TextureSupply
@TextureSupply 2 жыл бұрын
Sadly I have very little knowledge of that since I haven't used Android for the past 5 years or so. However there's a studio that were developing their own solution for Android based tablets, just can't remember the name of it but I'll look around and reply here if I find it again.

I ve been looking too. There isn't Camtrackar yet. However there is another called Blendartrack which will import really nice to Blender, then you could export it as Alembic (.abc) to .max or .c4d. Have just tried and it works great.

I've been thinking about that many times, the problem is that I'm not satisfied with it and I'm actually on my way to disassembling it and starting over with a few other ideas. Don't know how much sense it makes to make a video of something I'm tearing apart anyway :D

@TextureSupply
@TextureSupply Жыл бұрын
@@sLv3rE85 on a serious note though, there are many reasons I never covered it. 1. It's a shitty build. It was free based with no proper plan behind it. 2. It was my very first ever written code. I would basically dishonor every real developer out there if I tried teaching it, because I literally suck at it. I don't fancy pretending to be something I'm not. 3. I've been wanting to do something a bit more serious with it, however it just kept being deprioritized. If I were to make a deep dive into this, it would be a complete mess. I have seriously thought of doing a video so many times but every time I just end up not even knowing what the heck I'm supposed to say about it. Now if you feel like I'm full of shit and don't deliver on anything simply because you didn't get this specific video you wanted, that's a bummer. But you know, I would be more than happy to answer any specific questions you might have about it, that could help you along with building your own.
