Just setup syncthing to auto sync your home dir/documents dir to your nas/vps/phone whatever, done. Simple as that.

What a timing. I just accidentally made my arch system unbootable and broke timeshift and 80% of the other commands and the same time. Don’t worry, I can still chroot and use mount, ls, cp, cat, less and some other commands still work

@@98flyboneyep. Learn my lesson. NEVER ignore libicu. Qt5-something was preventing libicu from updating, so my smart ass decided to ignore both of those packages

@@98flyboneyep. I (a clearly very smart person) when saw that qt5-something was preventing libicu from updating, decided to ignore both of them. Learnt my lesson. To fix this (this is probably even more stupid), I chrooted and copied all files from the last timeshift snapshot and pasted them in the root directory manually. cp crashed and i couldnt chroot anymore. Had to reinstall some packages through pacstrap to be able to chroot again

unless you are not messing with kernel or drivers and you are able to break it, that's is a pure skill issue

I just use Pika-Bachup which is a GUI for Borg-Backup and a hot SSD weekly.

I'm in Astrophysics, and FORTRAN is still our bread and butter for doing outer space nonsense. Old =/= bad in a case like this. FORTRAN just works, is extremely readable, and has incredible performance. In many array ops it beats C, and in the worst case, gcc compiles it to the same instructions as C. There's no need to fix what isn't broken. I could just learn Rust for its "safety," but everyone else had that idea first. ;)

For a lot of cases when it comes to arithmetic Fortran will beat C entirely because C lacks a few features to actually teach the compiler about the system enough that it can make certain optimization. For example before C99 the C compiler was not able to do certain optimization about pointers and only beginning with C23 (when this will finally finished, yet, it's a good name) also about arrays (and making some old cold illegal with it). Seriously, when you start to look into it, even for its time C wasn't a good language. UNIX was a good OS for its time, and UNIX chose to use C.
