The only think I would add is have a plan if something goes wrong. If you are forced to check your camera bag, have a plan to remove the camera out of the bag and carry it on to the plane with you. This happened to me on a smaller plane but I was prepared and took the body, and lens out of the bag and held it on the plane with me.

Just to be clear the camera bag you recommended fits in the overhead bins on your average commercial airplane?
@MattKendallPhotoVideo9 ай бұрын
Yes! The bag fits perfectly as a carryon and you can store all your major equipment in it if you’re worried about checking any bags.

Really good advice. One thing to consider, when I flew overseas I bought a LiPo fireproof battery bag to store all my batteries in - good to check with country regulations as well as airlines 🤙🏼

Also remember to pack any multi tool you intend to bring in your check in luggage. Most flights dont like passengers bringing in sharp, pointy things in with them

Thank you for the information. I typically fly Delta, as well. Do you have TSA pre check?

No problem! I don’t have pre check, but I’m sure the process is similar

Are digital cameras fine to travel with. How does the process work for that

Question: What if you need to bring along a tripod? Should I ship it via FedEx ahead of time?
@MattKendallPhotoVideo6 ай бұрын
Good question! There are ways to attach tripods to travel bags like the one I use. There are plenty of anchor points on my bag. You can invest in travel sizes tripods to avoid any issues if you travel a bunch, but if you want to ship your gear, that’s an option as well! 😄

@@MattKendallPhotoVideo I think if I attach my tripod it will exceed the carryon requirements
@MattKendallPhotoVideo6 ай бұрын
@@dh1163 In that case you can also consider placing your tripod and other stands in a hard case. It would have to be checked luggage at that point if its too big for carryon, however a tripod would survive better under the plane than your camera would! Hope this helps! :)

Came across your video, and here's a question: bought a small-ish amazon camera bag that houses all of my lenses and camera body, so, could I bring that small bag inside a much bigger one that also has other gear as well, hard drives, etc? Or what would be the way to go here?
@MattKendallPhotoVideo9 ай бұрын
I would think that can work fine as long as it’s still small enough to be a carry-on. If not, Id look for hard cases or heavier duty camera bags if you plan to travel frequently with all your gear. The bag I use is my all around camera bag so it’s used for domestic and international travel. Carries 3 camera bodies, lenses and my drone with no hassle. Hope this helps!

Is it must to scan the camera and lenses? Can I ask hand check only? Can the x ray damage my Nikon Z6ii and the lens ?
@MattKendallPhotoVideo9 ай бұрын
TSA will do random checks. Some checkpoints might pull you aside and check camera bodies and lenses by hand. It’s ultimately up to the TSA checkpoint you go through
