I relate to this. I am the same height as her if not shorter. I am a double amputee that can walk on her knees(stumps). I like stories like this. People like this are what I love to watch. I had the courage to share my story too on KZbin and I am glad your channel does the same. Also, I love a channel here called SBSK!

Kendall Rae I remembered when I was in high school and I was sitting in science class when out of nowhere this student stands up to get something from the sink and looks out the window and then he tells the whole class to look outside. He said, “look guys a bow legged midget with long hair”.It was not funny and I knew who he was talking about and even though everyone peeked out the window and were laughing, I felt sad for her. People can be really cruel sometimes and not realize it.

That part when she said her mom told her not to cry.... Made me cry instantly. I never really cared for what people thought of me, because I have my own individuality, that makes me stand out from everyone else. I cried because it makes me happy to hear that from a parent to a child, I will always tell my daughter not to be afraid to be different. Thank You.

The hair school she went to should be ashamed! In this day and age disability should not be an obstacle! Clearly special steps could be made for her with ease! I worked in a hairdressing college and we had a student with dwarfism who was 4.3" her dad made her a secure portable step one for the backwash and other stations and a surrounding plinth for the styling stations, but we are legally required in the UK to make adaptations for disabled staff, clients and students.
@laurak96666 жыл бұрын
Emily Gilbey Your absolutely right! I too found this shocking as it is the USA's policy as well. So I am very confused and disappointed by their insensitivity towards her situation. What happened to her is considered bullying where I'm from punishable by being sued and fired, and that's just for the person who was telling her that being a hairdresser wouldn't be right for her. The school could be fined for not conforming to the disability laws and regulations. And the people running the school, and all employees would have to complete sensitivity classes. And if they don't the school could be closed until they do. Especially if they refuse to pay the finds.
@KatieGrady19976 жыл бұрын
Well they aren’t totally wrong. I have a bad back and as much as I would have loved to do hair (I also went to beauty school), there’s just no way I could stand for hours a day. It really hurts my body.
@EmilyGilbeywilbey6 жыл бұрын
@@KatieGrady1997 I am a full time hairstylist. I stand all day. I have osteogenesis imperfecta or brittle bones disease causing arthritis, spinal stress fractures and scoliosis. I have degenerative disc disease meaning my spine is literally crumbling at the base. I suffer at least 2 slipped discs a year. I take daily nerve pain medication for my sciatica and am gonna need spinal fusion surgery at some point. I also have a muscle missing in my waist, and have had 2 car accidents causing whiplash and muscle spasm problems in my shoulder and upper back, oh and I had severe osteomalacia (ricketts) which made my pelvis deform. I stand all day, and it's the only job I can do! I work in a college, and have had to stop commuting, carrying a briefcase and sitting at a desk because I was almost completely disabled, so I went back in the salon and the standing is literally what is holding me together! I broke my ankle 3 times last year, and my foot in 5 places, and didn't miss a single day of standing on my feet all day. I'm not trying to sound like a martyr but I'm saying it is totally possible! Oh, and my sister has the same condition bit worse scoliosis than me and is 39 weeks pregnant with her 4th child, she is still working all day with me in our salon!
@EmilyGilbeywilbey6 жыл бұрын
@@KatieGrady1997 sorry I don't mean to be insensitive, but it was your choice and decision that the career would be difficult. I mean a beauty school could obviously not accommodate a blind person, but should have to try at least for everyone else to help how they can.
@kristenastrup56296 жыл бұрын
Emily Gilbey keep in mind that what’s possible for you may not be possible for another person. Pain and diseases and illnesses are relative and effect people differently. I’m glad you are able to do all these things despite your many battles, but your words here could easily tear someone else down without you even trying to.
