Suggestion: When using tacks for a temporary hold, driving them through onto a steel plate or anvil [just one hit or they will buckle] the burr bends over and keeps the leather from slipping off. They can be twisted back out easily with needle nose pliers.

Great series…I’ve seen you use that rag to stain and polish the edges in other videos…what kind of cloth/material is that? I was also wondering what glue you use? 🙂
@JHLeather
@JHLeather 2 жыл бұрын
It's some linen cloth that I use for polishing the edges and the glue I use is a contact adhesive called bostik 6092 👍

Can you find that leather on Amazon... I can’t seem to find that leather, let alone the right thickness of the leather, anywhere. Do you know where I can find it? If I can find it in Amazon, can you tell me what to search up, or send me a link? Thank you! P.S. I love your videos and how nice you are to you fans! Always work hard like you do, and never give up, keep going!

Hello, you would need to go to a proper leather suppler rather than amazon for a project like this. I am not sure where you are based but in the UK there are Abbey England and Metropolitan Leather, in the USA there is Buckle Guy who stocks a lot of different leather options. You will need a 3.5-4mm bridle butt for this project.

What a wonderful square you have. Can you tell me where I can find one?
@JHLeather
@JHLeather 4 жыл бұрын
It's a 3" engineer's set square, the brand is silver line tools but I think if you search for engineers set square you'd find one. I got it from ebay 👍

Hi. What would you recommend as a substitute for plastic foam padding? I would like to use something that is both soft and bio-degradable.

I think maybe some wool felt would work
