Great beginner level video that deals with important ways to beef up your playing. I appreciate you digging into the old school choruses that really have excellent chord progressions that are so much more lush than most modern songs (though I like a combination). One process I've used consistently is building a minor off the 3 for major 7 chords. And a major 7 off the 3 for minor chords in order to add 7 and 9. Works so much better in my opinion than trying to build from the root of the chord, because it generally keeps you distonically true. Works much of the time, but sometimes (particularly in modern CCM songs) it clashes with the melody.

I never thought of the D major chord like yours, with the first inversion on the left. I always play an octave on the left, and inversion on the right. but always feel the notes are far too apart 😅

Warren, do you have any tips for playing COGIG music?
@PianoLessonwithWarren Жыл бұрын
Even within COGIG there different approach based on song, and tempo. I’m not a COGIG player but I can imitate any style, so that’s what I do. So unfortunately I can’t give any specific tips, I give tips based on songs.

actually, the difference between add2 and add9 is the presence of 7th..... if you see add9 that means the 7th is there or they would have said add2.... people.....????
@PianoLessonwithWarren Жыл бұрын
Actually no, the 7th is not present in an add9 chord. I covered this topic in detail in this video; kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKXGpqOcYrWHhJY
