Super sound advice Anthony. The mental game is probably the biggest challenge for most all of us, whether you're being sharked or not. But, if we as a player can develop a consistent process and procedure with execution, we will win more in the long run. Gosh I dislike cheaters, but can't let them irk you out of the game.

I am a very friendly respectful player. Sometimes too nice, and enjoying the good time more then the win. So in friendly games i am not so focused and try-out all sorts of shots. This relaxed attitude helps me a lot when playing for the money. If people try to shark me, I always see that as their weakness. And strangely enough I then turn into a pool machine. My focus increases to counter the sharking attempts. My shots get better. I feel some adrenaline which makes me sharper. And I start running out tables condemning the shark to his seat. Sharking or unsportsmanlike behavior is the best way to get me to my A-game.

Another great video Anthony! Missed seeing you on here.. We played a tournament here in Indianapolis where sharking WAS allowed and expected… it got pretty crazy but, it did help me with dealing with distractions. I really do like the things you suggested and talked about.

It’s so fun to drill the shot when someone sharking. Seems to make them a little more upset. And I always like to go up to the guy who wants to stand close to the table and watch the shot and tell them I give lessons if he needs to learn how to make this shot. Please get back and get ahold of me after the match. 😁 well they walk away barking.

One of the nice things of playing in bars. I'm very used to movement and noise... not easy to distract me.

I had one guy that used to stand up and look at the table on the money ball and say, I’ve seen this missed before. Bet you hesitate and miss it. Best thing that ever happened to me as now just think the opposite and sink it. Mind games can work two ways.

I really needed this because that exact thing happened to me last night but guess what I didn't go through any pre-shot routine and I did the worst thing you could ever do I made an incredible shot on the 8-ball got down on the nine and the guy was talking shit behind my back I could hear him but I tuned him out well I thought that I did as soon as I got down on the 9 th I slid over I know this because I shot the 9-ball straight into the point of the pocket what happened well the nine-ball rolled over to the other pocket and just sit in my opinion handicap tournament shouldn't have a such thing as a two meaning a grown ass man going to two and I have to go to 6 in a pool tournament no low-rank player should have that kind of pressure put on them the so-called two broken ran the first rack and then I got to the hill after that and I couldn't handle the pressure so thank you for this it's going to really help me today

Makes you think we are all doing intentional sharking. How often do we put up your cue stick right after opponent makes a good shot to get set up on the 8 or 9? We know the opponent sees that and gets in their head. Being aware of that move is a good step to better mental game, for sure.

How about the guys that jingle their change or keys in their pocket while u r down on a shot........Nothing quiets them like composing yourself, bearing down and running out.......

I disagree with ignoring the opponent comment. The opponent does matter. And the thought or then should be dealt with like the example you have of the guy powdering his cue. Have you read The Pleasure of Small Motions?

When it comes to slow play there isn’t anything you can do without a shot clock. You just have to ignore it.

I have played in the Philippines and the amateur players will stand in front of the pocket you are shooting towards or as they pass the pocket they will non intentionally or intentionally put the chalk about 1/2 a diamond away from the pocket you are shooting towards. Watch some of Efren Reyes (which is my favorite Pro Player) videos playing in the Philippines you will see him doing it as well. I have been there 3 times (for about a total of 13 months) and I got use to those kind of sharks now because I played so much over there that things like that you start ignoring and will no longer bother you. However sometimes when I am not 100% focused I will notice things like that and as Anthony stated get back up and start your pre shot routine again. The chalk bit I will just move it out of my view.

If some one puts the chalk at a spot to distract me deliberately. I always push it of the table with my cue. If they have a problem with that, I tell them to take the chalk with them when their turn is over.

I don't think that there is such a thing as "unintentional sharking." What you describe is simply a distraction. Especially those who play in bars, should be immune to such issues.

I have had opponents ask me a question when I am about to hit the ball. "Hey! Are you hungry?" At that point, you know two things: They don't think they can beat you and you will never win anything meaningful from them. Most sharks are poor losers in every way.

We have a total dbag that will jump up and cry foul, ask for someone to watch the shot when its very obvious, pull out the timer. He is waaaaaayyyyy hated. I've beat him and he will not play me.
