A few suggestions: 1) You can use a 12 string electric to get more natural octaves, 2) You can use a sustainer, e-bow, or blend the guitar with a slow-gear pedal for longer sustain, 3) Instead of using the fuzz, you can create a comb-filter by using one or two few phaser pedals with lfo speed set to zero and adjust the time control to create cleaner sounds and wave shapes other than square, 4) You can use an envelope based phaser effect like the bubble tron pedal, to create a chaotic attack envelope (especially to emulate flutes and horns), 5) You can use a ring modulator to create bell sounds 6) You can use a talk box to even shape your sound more

Yes! That's what I'm looking for! This video, plus the awesome helpful comments, is just what I needed! I've been looking for a way to get good synth sounds from my electric guitar, and this just nailed it. (Not just "electronic" sounds, also horns, sax, etc.) I'll see what I can do, just as soon as I can tolerate playing my electric guitar. (Guess I should explain: it hurts really bad to try to play, both from the weight of the strap around my neck, and trying to turn my head to see my left hand. That's bc I'm still, STILL recovering from neck fusion surgery to fix nerve impingement in my left arm & hand. Surgery was over 6 months ago, and I'd have thought I'd be more recovered by now... "But it just takes time," as the Physical Therapists keep telling me. Frustrating, bc I WAS recovering nicely the first few months, then I started having severe muscle spasms in mid-back, lower neck area, that's making me feel like I'm going backwards, not forward in recovery. But hey, there is progress, just in the last 2 weeks, all of a sudden I can play my classical guitar for more than 2-3 minutes at a time, I played for an hour the other day! I've been working on hand strength since the day after surgery, but it didn't "take" until recently. So, that's progress, I guess.... But not fast enough!!! It's frustrating!!!) Anyway, that's my "cross to bear." Thanks, guys! Really! 👍

this was a super great video. how about a review of the new release of the EHX attack / decay or the Maleko Sneak Attack (as a way to remove attack and create synth sounds)? i love this channel, and i've been into synthy stuff for a while (i know they discontinued but moogerfooger with CP control would really really fit your sound, although it's a bit more technical). anyway, keep it coming...

This is what any multi pedal guy who wants freaky but very organic tones wants. It's so tricky to buy up boutique pedals with weird sounds and make real music. Excellent job. You should get some serious job from this, so many people just end up trashing a good tube tone not knowing how to control pedals musically.

Thank you so much for this amazing guide to synth guitar! 👌 I also want to share a pair of tips with you: 1. A good forgotten pedal to cook nice synth tones is EQ (either graphic or parametric; or both if you can). Why? Filtering and FORMANTS! Some of the most sought-after synth tones are based on the filtering and formants from real instruments. 2. Fuzz pedals are actually synth pedals (in fact, the Maestro Fuzz-Tone was initially marketed as a synth device!) and they work amazingly as a foundation for reed-style tones. For instance, you could be able to get a convincing sax or clarinet sound from a fuzz pedal (+ the intelligent use of EQ and filtering pedals) with a little bit of knowledge about acoustics and good ears (of course).

First video of yours I have watched. It's nice to see somebody on KZbin that isn't just a straight up metal head talking about guitars. I love Fluff and Jared and Ola and all those guys but this is the stuff that really gets me inspired and excited. My guitar Idols have always been the unconventional ones. Mike Einziger, and Amir Derakh and the like. I wish divided pickup guitar synth technology has kept up with the rest of the tech. I'm just getting back into guitar after years without playing, I feel really lost on the tech end of things, which is where I love to be. I think maybe your channel will be a good thing for me to come back to. SUBBED!

Aerial travel is getting real fancy recently, and I believe it's a good thing as it's safer and faster than taking a train. Still, plane tickets are not a cheapest thing in the world. But did you know you can fly with means of transportation you already have? You just need to know how planes work. 1. Planes need to go real fast in order to take off. I'll be using my hennesey venom F5, because I really like it's engine sound, but you can use whatever car you have that goes about 180MPH 2. Most of planes fly higher than the ground level. They do it by going up. I'll be using my Airship Industries Skyship 500, as I like how comfy the cabin is, but you can use anything that goes up. Trebuchet paired with a glider gives interesting effects, if used correctly. 3. Planes can move in the air by spinning their wheels, like cars do. In order fly they use propellers or jet engines. Since I'm using and airship, all I need to do it to tell my servants to get me there, but if your butler is on a leave, you can use Rocketdyne F-1 engine. As you can see one can achieve flight without explicitly buying a plane ticket. Of course plane ticket takes less space in your pocket, but if money's an issue, you can always make do. Also, it can give you more uncommon effects than simply traveling in an old boeing.

I started watching this on my phone, in Google, after a search. Once I got it into YT so I could see it in "landscape" mode, I was able to see some of the details & text that was added in editing. But I'll have to watch it again on a much bigger screen. I can see that it makes a difference in shaping the sound, the order in the effects chain that you put the different pedals in. That makes sense to me, I'll need to make some notes to get the most out of this video. Then I'll have to translate your pedals into the ones that I have to accomplish the same functions, lol. Maybe you could do a video on the difference it makes to change the order of things in the effects chain? That'd be great, bro! Keep it up, dude! Want to see more! I definitely subscribed! 👍

@@thepedalzone I bought the Red Panda Tensor Bar and loved it. But it stopped working after 5 days :-/ Then they sent a replacement and that one just never worked

Man, this content is pure gold! I really have no idea you could make that kind of sounds out of regular pedals. Also your explanation and justification of why putting each and every single pedal is just great. This video definitely blew my mind, and you have earned a grateful subscriber. Keep up the good work! Ps: I will definitely will try this with my pedals. Thanks.
