This was perfect! My Inspire 1 Raw was completely unusable until I followed this. The debug file was incredible! For anyone else trying to do this to the Raw version of the I1, you must name the empty file WM610_FC550R_FW_DEBUG otherwise it will not work. Donnie you are the man! Saved me thousands of dollars since I was seriously going to have to buy an Inspire 2 if I couldn't get any Inspire 1 to work for my business!

Donnie you made my investment of 10k worth of Inspire 1 V2 equipment work again. I watched this video knowing that I would probably brick one part or another if not all of my equipment. I'm happy to contribute to any form of gratitude that I can. You asked about peoples outcome with the X5. I found out that for me the "Magic Key" file you talk about worked great to go from the most current Firmware down to 1.09. On both my X3 which I did first, and my X5, neither would go all the way in just one jump. But, one jump from current to 1.09 and then to 1.08 worked great for both of them. I also found some other sites to use for firmware and a better video for downgrading the Go App. It's just easier to understand and it allows you to use the current version of Charles which helps a lot. As you can see I'm talk a lot. Below is the steps I went through with some important details not mentioned by others that may assist some people in this task. First I studied for 10 hours to determine the whole procedure. I figured this out by using 4 videos off youtube. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZ67kIB7iM5rbNE kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHbLm4emqLxlkNE He recommends using this video to roll back your Go App software listed below. But I found a much better one to learn how to do that. His: kzbin.info/www/bejne/emi1lmOnZrOFndU Mine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJqzY4Z4id93npI I used Charles 4.2.5, free version Locations to find files: Direct from DJI, but you need to know the URL. With all the info out there you can find the correct one directly. dl.djicdn.com/downloads/inspire_1/WM610_FW_V01.07.00.90.zip dji.polybotes.feralhosting.com/DJI-Firmware/BIN/ Notes: 1. It's hard to tell sometimes when a firmware update has really happened in the downgrade process. If you feel it has, shut off the drone. Remove the Micro SD, read the txt file. The top of the file is what you are concerned about. Make sure to remove your dummy debug file otherwise you will just do this over and over. 2. In Charles, when you make a mistake and try to go back you will never get to where you originally did. Clear everything. Select the P... buy area and then disable ssl proxy. Now search for your dji go app again, start downloading and go through the whole process again. Also make sure you turn off break points. If you don't it will never work correctly again. 3. The magic key process works very well for downgrading the firmware on your drone, cameras, and motors. You can downgrade many versions at one time. I went from 1.11 to 1.09. They said you could go all the way to 1.08 but that never worked for me. I may have not waited a long enough time. It can take an hour or more sometimes. I recommend going down to 1.09, and then to 1.08. That worked for the X3 and the X5. 4. One time I screwed something up on the process and the camera started beeping like the firmware upgrade was taking but all four motors beeped constantly for almost an hour. Afterwords though the firmware finally worked. Process for getting the correct version of DJI go on to your Ipad: 1. First remove the Go App from your Ipad. Backup your flight data if you want it. Then make sure your Ipad or Iphone does not have internet access at all during this time. Later it can but not during this process. 2. First you have to install a old version of Itunes on to your PC. Make sure you never let it upgrade. Don't open now. 1. Install Charles from www.charlesproxy.com/download/ I used 4.2.5. Does't appear to make a difference in which one you use. 2. Get you Itunes account setup. Make sure you have 2fa turned off on your Apple account. appleid.apple.com 3. Select Itunes Store in Itunes and sign in. 4. Now go back to the store and authorize the computer. 5. Now open Charles, run windows side by side. 6. Firewall may have issues. Authorize all access. 7. Search for DJI Go, we don't want 4. 8. Select download or get, it will ask you account info again, tell it to remember it, watch for the little percent indicator in top right window. Once it starts downloading pause the download and then delete it. 9. Go to Charles, find P...-buy-itunes.apple.com. When you click/open it you will see one or more that is ok. Right click on the buy-tunes url and select "enable SSL Proxy" 10. Now go search for the program you want again, download it again, stop it seconds after it begins just like before, and delete it. 11. Go back to Charles, you will see a new buy-itunes url that looks the same as the one above. Open it and go down to "buy product". Right click and select "break points". You are now ready to begin. 12. Find the version of the DJI Go app you want, in my case DJI Go I wanted 2.9.2 which is on the DJI Go 3 spreadsheet. and that number is = 818874204. Make a note of that number. A couple of the URLS above have links to these docs to lookup the number you want. 13. Now you are going to go back to Itunes search for the Go App again, and then download. This time though Charles will stop the download allowing you to put your number in from above. 14. Charles will now have a new tab on the left called Break Point. On the top right of Charles click Edit Request Tab, then on the bottom click on XML Text 15. Here you will see XML on the screen and you will see a String variable with a number like yours. Put your number in it's place. 16. Now select Execute on the bottom, it will prompt again and select execute again. Let your download complete. You may have to hit execute again. 17. After downloading check Itunes under My Apps, right click on what you downloaded to see the info/version of what you got. You can find this ipa file on your Win7 pc at: C:\Users\YourName\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications if you want to back it up. It's a good idea. 18. Connect your Ipad with your USB cable. Select your device, go to Apps, and install this version of DJI Go. Accept everything you normally do. Do not allow updates. Look for that, find it and disable it. Process for downgrading firmware is very straight forward. Remember it can take an hour for some down or up grades. Do this first with the X3, then the X5. TO GET PAST THE v1.11 "no roll back allowed" BOTTLENECK: Create a BLANK file with NO EXTENSION, and put it in the root director of your MicroSD card. Always start with the X3 if you have one. For X3 camera make a dummy file in the root directory with this name = WM610_FW_DEBUG no extension at all. No .txt, nothing. Nothing needs to be in the file. For me it did not work to downgrade all the way to 1.0.8. I had to go to 1.09 first and after that worked I could download to 1.08. So make sure on the root directory of your Micro SD you have your Dummy file, and you have your 1.09 .bin firmware file. In this case that file you need is WM610_FW_V01.09.01.30.bin I found if I had other things on the SD card that it could cause issues. So start with a clean formatted SD card if you are having issues. In other words before you begin format a Micro SD card using your drone. Make sure you Remote Control (Radio) is turned off. Your SD card is in your X3, and turn on the drone. Initially it will take a few minutes before it gets to the upgrade process of the sound "D-D-D-D----D-D-D-D". This takes a long time to complete. Your drone, it's camera, the gimbal and the motors are all going to do things you may not have ever seen before. The worst part is that it's hard to find out if it's actually completed. You may or may not get the completed firmware upgrade tone of "D-DD, D-DD" Either way try to figure out when it's done. Turn the drone off, remove the SD card, read the .txt file logs and see if it did complete the downgrade. Make sure you remove the dummy "debug" file. Try powering it up and see if it works. If not try to sync your remote with the drone. There are many videos on this. If the drone did not upgrade correctly do it all again. When you are done go through the same process to downgrade to 1.08. That went very easy for me. I did have to sync the remote with the drone though. For X5 camera, you do basically everything the same as above with the correct 1.08 and 1.09 bin file. Your dummy file's name though is WM610_FC550_FW_DEBUG and of course the bin file will be for the X5. Donnie thanks again. I have used my drone so little lately that I get nervous now when I fly it. But one thing is for sure. Set the drone on the ground, turn on the remote, turn on the drone and just fly and shoot. No more issues!!!!!!! Note: Make sure to to re-calibrate your IMU or ICU (what ever it's called) and your compass before flying. Check all settings on your Go App because everything will be lost.

Wow! That's a LOT of great information. It's funny how these hacks are kind of an arms race with DJI. As DJI "hack-proofs" their software and/or FW, third-party vendors and developers up their game. There was a time that my video was bleeding edge. Just months later, it's become almost irrelevant. Good on you for doing your homework, and I'm glad my video had some small part in getting your birds back in the air. Please leave your notes up on this page, as I plan on accessing them and studying them when I have more time. For now, off to work. You have a great day.

You and Donnie have definitely laid it all out and made it simple. I am having problems downgrading from 1.11 for my I1 pro.. I have followed the directions to a tee..I believe..and am still running into issues. I have downloaded the files from the polybotes link you provided above. The files on the site (V01.10.01.40_AC.bin) are not labeled the same you and Donnie have in your examples (for my I1 pro it should be WM610_FC550_FW_V01.10.01.40.bin). When putting the fw on the micro-SD card I rename it WM610_FC550_FW_V01.10.01.40.bin). My debug file states as the last entry: ========== 2014.01.01 00:00:06 remo-con disconnect====== Packet: WM610_FC550_FW_V01.09.01.10.bin Result: Corrupted. Firmware bin file is corrupted, download it again from the DJI offical website. I have tried 1.09 and 1.10 with both stating corrupted. do you know of another download site for the legacy software? When trying DJI site it only has 1.11 for x5. Thanks.

Hello Flying High. I'm sorry I didn't see this comment until just now (12/16/2018). Funny, but I'm having the same issue with a friend's Inspire 1 Pro. We have spent about 6 hours trying to roll back his FW to no avail. As you can imagine, we tried everything. The good news is that I downloaded some slightly different .bin files 3 or 4 days ago, and we're going to try these new files tomorrow night (Monday). If the roll back works, I will add to the Description section which .bin files to use and where to get them.

You are an absolute magician with your key! I got my Inspire 1 V2 to go from the latest 1.11 back to 1.8.01.00!! I got the 1.8 firmware from panorobot (per your other great tip!) for the record I have a Pro actually with the X5 camera mount but using a X3..I have both cameras by probably won’t try to mess with the X5 firmware and will just use my X5 solely with my Osmo. One weird thing was at the end of the downgrade I got the dreaded long solid beep so I thought it didn’t work and figured I would have to reload the 1.11 and start over because I tried previously to go to 1.09 unsuccessfully (using your magic key) but I checked the log this last time and it was a success and after then rebinding the controller (downgraded to 1.6) I checked my about screen and the bird and camera are both on 1.8!!!) Can’t possibly thank you enough. To the 3 people who thumbs downed this video try again :) If only I could downgrade the app firmware to 3.11 I’m sure it would be even better but with me being on the latest 3.1.47 app firmware my bird is actually useable again and working great! So many thanks! Happy holidays!

Hello Mr. Winn. I'm glad it worked out for you! And, yes, if you can roll back your Go App to v3.1.1, you will be in droning bliss. To do this, you will need a legacy version of iTunes, which you can get here: www.softerm.net/software/itunes-125442-64-bit/2594 I have also updated my comments to include updated information (at the bottom of the description section). Steve Barnes of DigDat0 does a most excellent tutorial of how to roll back your App (URL to his video at the bottom of the description area). Remember, once you roll back your app, Apple is going to hound you occasionally to update it. Do NOT update. The final hack is the 32-channel hack, which opens up 24 "hidden" transmission channels. Once you set your Inspire up this way, you'll never have to worry about it again. I just flew mine with my partner at the controls and me operating the camera. After being in a box for 2 months, we charged everything up and the Inspire flew flawlessly. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqXVopKeaZloiZY Good luck!

So with all of your great advice & links I actually just got it rolled back to 3.1.11! Do you know the latest iPhone/iPad version that will work with the older iTunes?

@@RatherBeRestoring: I'm sorry...I don't have that information. I actually use 11" iPads for my drones. I have an Air 1 16GB WiFi, and an Air Pro 32GB WiFi. Both are very duty specific to my aerial photography company and sound business. So they are stripped of all "fluff" and are strictly used for business. I have disallowed iOS updates on both iPads, stopping @ v11.xx. I find that Apple is no better than DJI when it comes to the hyperbole of their updates. They often boast "better performance" (and even cite numbers), but my user experience shows the exact opposite. I'm one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" guys, so almost everything in my life is a legacy / vintage version in one way or another. And while I DO embrace some new technologies (obviously), I'm NEVER less than 2 years behind. I have found this paradigm to be VERY beneficial. But I digress... According the Inspire 1 release notes, Go App v3.1.1 was released for iOS 9.xx on 12/15/2016. Since then, I have allowed my iPads to go through two updates, v10.xx and v11.xx. I have stopped there, and 3.1.1 is working great. So I think we can extrapolate that Go App v3.1.1 works through iOS 11, but probably breaks @ iOS v12.xx.

Those whom did not update both RC & AC, shut off, restart, complained of green video issues.. DJI had said flight would be limited to something like 50 meters high by 90 meters distance in order to get us to upgrade.

I just don't understand how it's letting you fly the older firmware after making the upgrade mandatory ~"or you'll be flight limited". Doing this to just some of us?! B4 upgrading, I indeed was limited! *Now they require signing into the app b4 every flight (then close it and hit airplane mode). Well....DJI hasn't "removed" legacy firmware versions per-se. They simply don't keep a legacy firmware archive on their website. This may be by design or just laziness. Based on my dealings with DJI, I'm going to guess the latter. That said... It sounds like they pulled some real BS with version 1.11. Scary. Fortunately, for now, one gentleman has stockpiled ALL firmware versions. Go here: www.panorobot.com/dji/inspire_firmwares.htm I don't know what "poison pill" DJI planted in v1.11. I can't speak regarding v1.11. I CAN say with 100% confidence that you CAN roll back to any version you wish from 1.10, albeit, one version at a time.

Hello@@gadankrah. I assume you only have 1 .bin file on your MicroSD card, correct? I'll need some more details. Which FW version is your bird on? And which version are you trying to roll back to? Are you using the "Magic Key" file? Are you using the CORRECT Magic Key file? If worse comes to worse, run a chkdsk on your MicroSD card to avoid erroneous file reporting. OR...use a different MicroSD card. A dozen things can be causing this. I honestly don't have enough information to troubleshoot. But try the things I listed here. Good luck.

@@gadankrah : There are only two FW versions for the controller. And ANY app version will connect to ANY FW version. If you can't connect your iPad to your RC, there are other issues at play. I assume you changed out the cable, yes? The next thing to do would be to try a different iPad. If THAT doesn't work, there's a very good chance you have a failing USB port on your RC. It is not uncommon for the USB port to fail on the Inspire 1's. If this connection issue is your entire reason for changing your firmware, you have been barking up the wrong tree. If your app says, "Disconnected," then your RC is NOT connecting with your iPad. But if your app says, "Aircraft Disconnected," this means the RC IS connecting to your iPad, but your RC is NOT connected to your AC. If you are using an Android device, I'm afraid you're on your own. After reading complaint after complaint, it is clear that the Android devices are dicey and unreliable. So all bets are off. If you don't have an iPad, borrow one so you can see if that's the problem. Good luck.

I did this earlier today with my X5, google search for the Inspire firmware modding tool, it’s the one with the .bat file, you can even modify the firmware file version you’ve chosen (like removing altitude limits, speed limits, etc.) and then you compile it, again using the tool, put that on to an SD formatted in the Inspire X5, and pop it in. Final step is to press down the little red button behind the nosecone of the inspire, and turn it on with that depressed and the SD card in. It will make the noises, and took less than 5 minutes for me. Then you’re done. You can take the card out, delete the firmware files after checking the success of the operation, then format it again and start flying. It’s very straightforward as long as everything works as it should. And even if it doesn’t, the troubleshooting is pretty straightforward. This way you can choose any firmware version you want. You can also download these versions from dank drone tools, if I remember correctly, in order to easily flash them to an Inspire.

So I found this video of how to downgrade, and the version 1.08 which I downloaded but bird didn’t take it , so I had to unbrick the bird by using the debug file. Took me awhile to figure out how to change it from a txt file to just a file, cause his video is 2 years old. But eventually got it figured out. Motors did the red updating thing, now waiting on it to take the 1.08 version, I just don’t know when the update is done.....bird is blinking all colors of the rainbow...Will update my comment when it’s complete .....and see if version rolled back .

Depends on the environment. Line of sight, I can get a solid 3,000' with no boosters. It's been a while since I experimented. With the passive signal boosters I make a mile easy....again, provided line of sight is maintained, you're not around metal structures, and there's not a ton of microwave interference. I highly recommend the 32 channel hack. It helps. And get those cheapo passive signal boosters. They're good for 25% more distance.

Hey Donnie! Great video! I’m looking for your opinion on my situation, I recently acquired an Inspire 1 with v1.2 firmware and would like to try these versions out on mine. My craft says I need to update before it will turn on the motors. Question is, am I hooped? Will i be able to pull this off and not have to update further or do I just update straight to firmware 1.11 and only be able to downgrade to v1.9? Not sure where to go from here. Another thing I should note is that my batteries don’t seem to want to keep a charge so I’be managed to get the bird to fire up using a battery clip I made with 2 3s batteries until I can get the funds to get the Inspire batteries. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

Hello...lots of stuff to cover.... I have never had an Inspire with FW v1.2. I recently tried to roll back a buddy's Inspire from v1.1 with no luck. BUT...his was the Inspire "Pro" (which is a slightly different animal from non-Pro versions), AND he only had the X5 camera. I've had little to no luck with the X5 camera. You have to use the X3. Even then...no guarantee you can pull yourself out of FW v1.2. I would not fly on a home made battery. If you notice, the Inspire battery voltage is slightly higher than 4S....something like 15.2, I believe??? I would bite the bullet and get an Inspire battery. That said, I can't believe your batteries are completely dead. I've never seen a completely dead Inspire battery. Not to doubt your veracity, I just haven't seen one. Try a few things...follow directions, READ the Description section thoroughly.

Let's check the release notes.... Okay...usually the release notes tell you which version you can go back to. What I have gathered is that, generally speaking, one can only go back 1 FW update at a time. So you're going to need to roll back to v1.10, then v1.09 and then v1.08. If that doesn't work, we'll have to use the big guns. Please report back if this works. IMPORTANT: Certain bird firmware versions are compatible with certain controller FW versions. As of this writing, I was able to take the controller back to firmware v1.6 directly via the Go app. Hopefully, this is still possible.

It's been reported that the "C" controllers won't roll back to v1.6. The "A" and "B" controllers will. Check the part number on the back of your controller to see if it's a "C." Hey Gary. I don't have a Z3 camera, so I have no real-world experience rolling back with the Z3. If you have the X3 camera, I recommend rolling back with that camera, and *then* installing the Z3. My experience has been that the roll back works best/easiest with the X3 camera. I subsequently attach the X5 camera, which works perfectly. If you don't have an X3 camera, the only Z3 versions I found on the DJI website were Zenmuse Z3 Firmware V01.09.01.40 (M600) and Zenmuse Z3 Firmware V01.09.01.40 (M100). As you have probably gathered, rolling back the FW is dodgy business. In theory, the "magic key" file allows you to go directly to any FW version. My experience has been that this works MOST times, but not always. That said, if you have v1.9, you should be able to roll back to v1.8 with little problem PROVIDED you have an X3 camera. I have been trying to do roll backs with the X5 with very little luck. All that said... I assume you're using goggles via the HDMI port. They should work perfectly with FW v1.8. I use FatShark Dominator V3 goggles all the time with great success. Which goggles are you using? What issues are you having?

Good on you regarding the X3. Regarding the DJI Goggles, I couldn't stand 'em. I purchased a pair barely used, used them twice, and duly put them on Craigslist for 3 months until they sold for the same price I purchased them for. In other words, I know very little about them. I can tell you with 100% certainly that the HDMI port works fine with FW v1.8. But remember, you must also rollback the controller to v1.6, which is covered in the video. If I recall, the DJI Goggles are WiFi capable. So make sure they're not trying to connect via WiFi. Don't assume that they will automatically default to the correct input source. You probably have to manually tell them to use the HDMI interface. Lemme know if any of this helps.

It's funny, but in a way, it's idiosyncrasies like this that insure guys like me and my business partner will always work while other professional drone pilots believe all this is "plug-n-play." I was just asked to teach a class on our military base for $3,000 for 6 hours. The guy who offered the gig is their drone steward and he comes to me all the time. I give him bits and pieces of whatever information he needs, but an all inclusive class would educate their drone pilots to the ins and outs of all this stuff. And as much as I have learned in the lab, nothing beats getting out in the field with a mission and just flying. I learn something new every time I fly.

@drummerdonniedotcom 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Frederic. At this point, the log files are going to be your best friend. Check your log files. What do they say? Unfortunately, this part of the process is not very scientific. Different methods seem to be working for different bird/camera/firmware combinations. For instance, I tried to roll back a friend's Inspire Pro, which was running v1.09.xx.30+. Apparently the "+" at the end of the firmware version throws a wrench in the spokes. Because I didn't have 40 minutes to wait, I rolled back to v1.09.xx.10 (which took less than a minute!), and then to v1.08, which took about 3 minutes! Done. What I learned, is that the X5 doesn't seem to give the user any feedback. Conversely, the X3 makes a little buzzing sound in a "De de de......deeeeee" pattern that changes to "De de......de de.......de de" when the update and/or roll back is done. So to roll back my friend's Inspire Pro, I used my X3 camera. I wish we would've had more time so that I could experiment more. Unfortunately, we did not. When done, his X5 camera FW version was completely different from mine. Yet both X5's seemed to work perfectly in his bird. That said... Try using the v1.10 firmware file in conjunction with the blank file, and then the v1.09 and then the v1.08. Please post your results.

The short answer is "yes." But beware... I've allowed my Air 1 and Air Pro Gen 2 to update to iOS 12.1.xx with good success. HOWEVER, once you go beyond that, you start running into troubles. So I would be very diligent with the iOS upgrade and do NOT allow it to go past 12.1.xx. In addition, I would make sure you have full (local) backup copy of your iPad prior to updates so that if Apple somehow slips in iOS 12.3.xx in (like the sneaky bastards they are), you have an exit strategy. I have an Air Pro Gen 3 that delivered with iOS 12.3.xx and so far it's been a useless piece of shit. The Go App and Go 4 App are constantly trying to update behind my back without my permission. I'm trying finding the perfect combination of logging in ONCE and then turning off WiFi. But the caveat is that I have to cache maps. So I'm learning the hard way to start the app with WiFi off, then turn on the WiFi to get map data. It's a real PITA and a problem I do not have with iOS v12.1.xx. I've had to reinstall the Go app 3 or 4 times now. Go 4 hasn't been as much trouble as Go, but there HAVE been issues. I've yet to use the Gen 3 in the field successfully. I WILL win, but I haven't as of this writing. Side note: If you're using legacy iTunes (I use 12.5.4.42), iOS 12.3.xx is NO LONGER COMPATIBLE with legacy iTunes. The work-around is iMazing, which has worked well so far. There are other iTunes substitutes out there that other guys use. Just beware that iTunes goes in the garbage past iOS 12.3.xx. Just to clarify the WM610_FC550_FW_DEBUG is an empty file with NO extension (do not add .bin to the filename). Place the empty, extensionless file along with the desired Firmware Downgrade .bin file onto the MicroSD card and wait 40 minutes for the downgrade. The other cool feature of this DEBUG hack is the ability to downgrade in multiple steps at once. So you can take your Inspire from FW1.11 straight to 1.08 in a single go.

I then tried to roll the aircraft back to 1.08.1.00, but nothing happened. So I tried 1.09.1.30 and this was successful. I tried 1.08.1.00 again, but again nothing happened. I took both RCs back to 1.5.8 and again tried 1.08.1.00 on the aircraft - still nothing… I also tried this with a WM610_FW_DEBUG file. Any ideas on how I can get it to take 1.08.1.00? The image I am getting now is an improvement, but it’s by no means perfect - still lots of pixellation and lag. It’s so frustrating when you consider I used to have a perfectly functioning UAV - if only I’d never upgraded any firmware! Thanks again.

Donnie, thanks again. You're a hero doing all this. I looked at your second video and followed the instructions. I had actually already tried the 'Magic Key' method but then I realised that, because I use a Mac rather than a PC, the text file had saved as a RTF file rather than just text. So I did it again, this time making sure it was a txt file, from which I then deleted the .txt file extension. Sadly, the same thing happens - when I put the SD card in, the Inspire doesn't upgrade at all - it just starts up as if there is no FW update file on the card. When I look at the result file afterwards, it says that the current firmware does not support downgrade. So I seem to be stuck on 1.09.01.30+ - and still with image transmission signal problems... Any ideas?
@drummerdonniedotcom
@drummerdonniedotcom 6 жыл бұрын
Do you have a PC you can try this on? Macs tend to do more 'under the hood' stuff that may be screwing up the "magic key" file. I have downgraded from 1.09.01.10. But....if I recall....I think the "+" was a problem. Try going back to the previous version, which I believe is 1.09.01.30 without the plus sign. Start the above video @ 10:25. This way you can see all the version information. Make sure your controller is back to v1.6. Also, FYI, as you can see @ 10:25, we got good reception with v1.09.01.10+ (not sure about v1.09.01.30+). We went back to 1.08.xx for NFZ reasons. Also, worth noting, I stopped @ v1.09.01.10+ THAT DAY, because I ran into roll back issues that I didn't feel like trying to solve at my partner's office. I believe the magic key in concert with gentle roll back to v1.09.01.10 (without the plus) was the winning ticket. Keep in mind, I'm going off memory on a lot of this. The work I've been doing lately has pulled me away from the Inspire platform, so "out of sight, out of mind" applies here. Let me know if any of this helps.

Hi Donnie. I don't have a PC, but I guess it shouldn't be too hard to find one I can borrow somewhere... I also see from one of the comments below that 1.09.01.30+ might be a problem and that I should try 1.09.01.10. Only trouble is I don't know where I can find this version (or 1.09.01.30 without the + sign for that matter)... Any ideas? It's not downloadable from either of the links you provided above. My controller is at 1.05.08 - is that a problem? Is it better to be at 1.6? Again, thank you for your time on this.

Your controller FW is a BIG problem. Update that to 1.6. You might have to update to the latest version, then roll back to v1.6. Try that first.

I tried to downgrade from 1.11 to 1.8. No way. I first tried directly from 1.11 to 1.8. It didn't work. So I tried to downgrade one version at a time. I successfully downgrade to 1.10. Then I downgrade to 1.9. No problem. But I did not succeed to downgrade from 1.9 to 1.8. The drone stopped bipping DDDD and never start bipping D-DD. So I ugrade everything again to 1.11 for the drone and 1.7 for the remote. I always have this video transmission problem. Any help greatly appreciated. My Inspire 1 is unusable without video signal.

I'm not sure why you would go back to 1.11. v1.09 not only works better than v1.11, it's a skosh away from 1.08. Overcoming the v1.11 hurdle is the most difficult part. I would say fly around on v1.09 and then get a fresh start on the 1.08 downgrade. If you watch the video, I had the same problem. I was only able to downgrade one of my partner's birds to v1.09. We flew it around like that a while and then downgraded to v1.08 a few days later. What you have to realize is none of this is exact science. DJI is no road map, so we count on people like you to persevere, DOCUMENT your experience, and SHARE it. You're in a great position to contribute to the cause. Don't give up so easy.

When I downgraded to 1.9 (AC) and 1.6 (RC) I could not bind the remote with the drone anymore. I tried to use the link feature in the application and click on the red button on the drone. But it didn't bind the two. Have you any tip to resolve that?
@drummerdonniedotcom
@drummerdonniedotcom 7 жыл бұрын
The fact that you couldn't bind AC v1.09 to RC v1.6 tells me something went wrong with your FW roll back. Again, what do the log files say? Have you been reading them? More than once it has taken users multiple attempts to get a FW to roll back correctly. Don't roll back the AC firmware until your are SURE the previous roll back was successful. The ONLY way to know this is via the log files AND the app. All this communication, and I still know NOTHING about your bird, your log files or your experience other than "this isn't working." SHARE INFORMATION. Without it, I can't help you. Off hand, it is obvious to me that you are NOT CONFIRMING FW versions each step of the way. Once you confirm the FW version IN THE APP, THEN move on to the next roll back. For the last time, what do your log files say? SAVE THEM in an archive so you can go back to them later. Which bird do you have? Which camera?
@fredericsidler
@fredericsidler 7 жыл бұрын
The LOG told me nothing. I turn off the drone when I heard the D-DD sound. In the log files I got an "upgrading.…", but without "result: success" or "result:failed". I waited for 2 hours before turning off the computer. Should I wait longer. Should I retry and retry and retry until I get "result : success"?
@drummerdonniedotcom
@drummerdonniedotcom 7 жыл бұрын
The latter. Retry until you are successful. I've had to "retry" up to 3 times. So have many other uses. It doesn't always take in the first attempt. It eventually takes. Copy and paste your log file in your next comment.

No worries amigo. And, yes, you will have to roll back the controller, too. Once you go back to FW 1.08.xx.xx, you will NOT be able to connect to the bird with RC FW 1.7. You must roll back to v1.6. Once you do this, you can leave them alone and never touch them for the rest of your life. I recommend rolling back the Go App to v3.1.1, too. That is the version I have been using for years and it is rock solid. No tests, no logins. You WILL be prompted to to install new firmware every time you start the app. Just hit the X and and you're good to go. If you roll back the app, don't allow the app to access anything. I asks too access like 3 or 4 things. Just say "no" to all of them. Good luck!

Ok just to be clear for rolling back of fw, I currently have fw 1.11 for the AC and RC is 1.7, I would need to roll back to 1.10 and subsequent to be able to load fw 1.8 correct?
@drummerdonniedotcom
@drummerdonniedotcom 7 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. FW can be rolled back only one version at a time. So you would have to roll back the bird to 1.10, then 1.09 then 1.08. The controller would have to be rolled back to v1.6 FROM your present version, which I assume is v1.7. That said, I have never rolled back from v1.11. I HAVE rolled back from v1.10. So that is what the video is based on. It has been brought to my attention that, apparently, v1.11 doesn't allow the user to roll back at all. I have NOT confirmed this. Since I don't own any birds with v1.11, and I'm not willing to install v1.11 on the chance that I will be STUCK with v1.11, we're going to have to count on others in this thread to figure out how to roll back FROM v1.11. As of this writing, that is all the information I have. If you figure out how to roll back from v1.11, please share your findings. Good luck.

I would stick with "UAS." Even in full scale aviation circles, nobody I know uses "AC." That abbreviation is already taken by "Air Conditioning" and "Alternating Current." That said... Yes, you use the MicroSD card in the camera attached to the bird to do the roll back.

Also, I was able to semi-successfully roll back an Inspire Pro to any FW I wanted, but the gimbal would only work with 1.11. I def. appreciate what you did here ( taking a deep breathe before attempting ) but this is absolutely ridiculous. DJI should be ashamed of the useless product they have put out. I'm absolutely shocked that they have not yet been hit with a product liability suit for further degrading this equipment post sale. There has to be a class action against them for this debauchery. ***UPDATE*** I was having no video at all streaming to my device (Samsung s9+) I found this video and was able to directly downgrade my inspire from 1.11 to 1.8.1. Remote is still on 1.7 and DJI go app is on 3.1.5. Still no video feed. May be the disparity between the controller and the the bird. (1.7.8 controller 1.8.1. bird) Upgrading bird to 1.9 to see if that helps. again no video at all just blank screen. Pictures are still available on card and video. Transmission issue only.

Good point. Other than DJI, I can't think of a single company who has been allowed to downgrade their product post-sale. The thing that REALLY pisses me off is that there are no mentions of these changes in the release notes. If anything, DJI should be forced into 100% transparency for the shit they pull. Their release notes are almost useless. All we can do is hack their products to maintain the same level of quality they had when we purchased them.

@@drummerdonniedotcom So I still was getting no video feed. Plugged my x3 into my osmo handle works fine. So I decided to go ahead and pull the gimbal cables... and plug them back in noticed a lose pin. It worked ...for about 1 min.. the camera was fine and showing transmission.. then I killed the bird to re update it to 1.11 however, turning it back on I get this obnoxious loud BEEP .....BEEP.......BEEP.... BEEP ..gimbal is limp. no video feed again.. and warnings are "update required" and 8 pin not connected on board... (or something similar to that) ... I obviously re checked my work 3 times plugging and unplugging cables. I also put back on the osmo handle... and now here I am with a 1.8 camera.. firmware... loud beeps ... no video transmission.. MC connection to center board failed Restart Aricraft.

LAST UPDATE : ok so if you have been following, I think it is def important to repair or replace the cables to the gimbal before all of this mess here. So I jumped right to the conclusion that it was an issue with firmware and dropped my 1.11 down to 1.8. leaving the remote on 1.7.... Still no video transmission. ... So then I popped the cables loose and noticed 2 prongs almost out of the white ends. I pushed back in secured. Once rebooting AC I had video but no gimbal ... so it was limp and a loud beep ...beep..beep.. with warnings that I was not getting any RC data... and to replace 8 pin wire... So then I decided to just put the AC outside bc it was too loud for inside and put the updated SD card in the camera for 1.11... I left it outside for probably 30 min. You can't hear the update beeps because of the obnoxious MC data beeps... so I was just hoping it was updating.... I checked its progress by turning on the MC controller a few times and opening the app and I can see it go from 1.8 to 1.9+ so I knew it was updating... and then all of a sudden...boom it made it back to 1.11 and the video feed works and it is solid out to approx 1 mile... so far... So ... I think my issue this whole time was the cables.

My drone is still able to fly and everything works however from the time I power it up in the app it says NO IMAGE TRANSMISSION. I have tried many alternatives with and without the bin file on my root directory along with the debug file but nothing works. My drone will beep a few times and then goes into this long loud process and the aircraft blinks green and red. Nothing happens with the motors blinking.
