I go to Fortaleza probably 3x a year. My dad is from there. Lived there from 2002-2005. I’m sure we crossed paths at one point, as I went out all the time there. One guy called me “highlander “, because I was always at every single party. The night never died during that time. It was the best time in Fortaleza, however, I think I like it better now

I think it would be interesting to explore the fishing culture in Fortaleza. Ceara is known for its jangadas, both building them and sailing/fishing from them. Many are now powered by outboard motors in addition to a sail but the the well known low profile jangadas are still used. It would make a great video to follow a fisherman and crew via drone shots and on board shots of a day of fishing. There is a fisherman/jangadeiro on YT, channel name, Wesley Amaral Pescador , he might be a good lead on finding a jangadeiro to follow for a day.

Man, the best thing in Fortaleza is ifood, and as for variety, both São Luiz and Pão de Açúcar have a good variety of fruits and vegetables. There are tomatoes of all colors and sizes, peppers too, breads too. As for "violence", that's it, there are some basic precautions. Now, a cell phone is not even worth stealing, if the device is registered on the anti-theft platform, if it is stolen, no one uses it anymore because the website renders the device unusable with the IMEI. .

I don’t think you’ve ever been to the US or even Colombia if you think Sao Luiz are Pão de Açúcar have lots of variety. People steal cellphones for the parts. It’s still very much a thing.

Billy I'll be controversial here, the cities down "south" as you said, Sao paulo, Rio (actually southeast), feel more dangerous specially because they're bigger even tho in statistics they're safer, for example, SP is statistically safer than many US cities, but reality is different. Also for some foreigners that think they'll get kidnapped in Brazil, its very unlikely, kidnapping was a thing like in the 80s and 90s, nowadays it's non-existent, even if you're very very rich, they'll rob you and everything but not kidnap you 😅.

The violence in Fortaleza is mainly on the outskirts. But, I’d only recommend staying in Meirelles, Aldeota, Varjota. Things do happen though, although rare. You really have to keep an eye out. Meirelles is like Barra da Tijuca in Rio. Safe for the most part, but things happen.

100 percent agree. Rio and Sao Paulo are both extremely dagerous feeling. In Fortaleza it is more isloated to certain neighborhoods that most toursits will never go. With that said anything is possible, and you need to exrercise caution still. I think he was referring to the far south like Florianopolis, which is super safe.

I would love to go there but lack the funds. The south is amazing, I lived there for some time. It is very nice, and neat but gets cold. I am not a fan of the cold. That is why I prefer Fortaleza. Depending on what part of the south you are going to. I am sure you will love it. Thanks for watching
