2:11 "In Ableton it's called the 'groove pool'." No, it's just a "randomize" button. The 'groove pool' is something very different.

Thanks Wolfgang, pinned it to the top for everyone to see. You can randomize velocities within the groove pool, but this is a better explanation. Thanks for pointing this out!
@wolfgang4468

@@LANDRmusic The groove pool is above all a collection of grooves that you can apply to MIDI and audio, and they are first and foremost about timing and rhythm. Yes, there is also the option to randomize the velocity, but you had to create (extract) a new groove first from an existing MIDI or audio file (which is not possible for owners of Lite and Intro versions btw) or "abuse" an existing one, then set everything to zero except the velocity. Also the application of grooves is non-destructive so you won't see anything happening to your notes. That is unless you commit, but then it's become destructive. In short: That's just not the idea behind it. Randomizing the velocity in the clip view is the way to go.

As a classically trained pianist who has performed in big bands, restaurants, clubs, bars, and as a studio session player - I tried all of the VST pianos on this list with exception of #2 Ivy, which requires a full version of Kontakt. In my opinion, #10, Bigcat Instruments Iowa Grand Piano was the most realistic, and I was quite impressed with its availability for free. Thanks for all your great midi tips as well.

Just started off. Using garage band and piano. Love it. Will probably find a better one once I discover what I am missing out on . Cause right now I am having the time of my life. Just started using my left hand and I feel like Mozart already.. Except that I still can't play much. And definitely can't play Mozart. But improvising on Ode to Joy totally rocks my life every morning.

This is amazing to hear! Garageband is definitely the way to go. When you're ready, Logic is a perfect step up for more control.

Spitfire Glass piano. A really good piano sound but sadly my Roland F100 sounds different during the recordimg through the headphones than when playing the record, and the touch and expression is not as good as the built in piano. I don’t now why, I had wanted to play with another piano model, but it’s like I will lose a lot.

Great stuff, especially if your piano playing isn't quite there yet. I use East West/Quantum Leap Pianos - great quality sample set with four different pianos sampled.

Hey, what type of speakers do you use for best sound? I have paid for a vst paid the premiums and all that shit but my digital piano sounds better without connecting to the computer.... Maybe it's because the speakers are edifier forgot the model something like 60 usd. Can anyone help me? Are the edifier speakers the problem. How much do I need to invest to make it sound more like an acoustic piano? If I have to spend 1000 dollars I'll just buy a used piano instead lol

Hi. Your video is very helpful. Actually I got a noire by native instrument. My frustration is it sounds different whenever I uploaded on youtube. Its seems quiet and the orinigal beautiful sound is not there. It seems compressed. Can you give me tips on what should I do? Your advices will be very much help for me. Thanks. Looking forward for you reply. I am using garageband by the way

4:45 umm... did you get that right? The muddiness was still there. I think the randomization left some of the first notes still on when the sustain pedal went down again. Looks like a real chore to make sure that doesn't happen, unless maybe the software has a snap-to feature to begin sustain at the start of the closest note.
