Chris - Try adding the SoundSource software from RogeAmobe to your computer. Once you do that, you can then add the SoundID Reference plugin to SoundSource. This allows you to keep the use of SoundID on your main outs, still at zero (or close) latency and also use it on your DAW monitor bus without having to add SoundID to a bus, etc. in your DAW. SoundSource lets you defnine multiple outputs (main, daw monitor, headphone monitor, etc.). You can then switch SoudSource to the output you are monitoring and within SoundSource, select the SoundID profile you are using (studio monitors, headphones, etc.). Doing it this way, you never have to worry about adding SoundID to the monitor output on your DAW.

Never worked with SoundSource, looks pretty cool. Not very useful for me since I'm using SoundID as an insert in the Cubase Control Room so I don't need to bypass it when bouncing. And also that its MAC only and I'm on Windows 10. Thanks for sharing though 😀

I purchased SoundID last fall and it is great. Way fewer trips out to the car to check mixes! LOL Really improved my mixes. Be sure to get your room sounding good with acoustic treatment before using SoundID. Thanks for your great videos, Chris! Always super informative! Cheers!

For the monitors that does not have speaker calibration sonarworks is a way to go. But folks who use Genelec SAM systems the level of calibration is so accurate and fast and plus grade report for the room correction suggestion is like hiring a top notch acoustician and designing a room. After the speaker are calibrated it stays stored in speaker and also in cloud so need for extra plugins within DAW. Great video

Hi Chris, I’ve been using SoundID that I bought with my Adams A7X monitors since late last year and I calibrated those and also my old (now secondary monitors) Alesis M1’s which are 25 years old. I can tell how much SoundID works because when I now switch between the 2 sets of monitors there is very little difference between them, compared with when SoundID is bypassed, then there is a huge difference between the raw/uncorrected speaker sounds. It has been working trouble free until a few days ago when I upgraded from previous Cubase version to the latest small update 12.0.3 then the profiles are all set to my headphone profile and I can’t alter them, amongst other Cubase issues so I’m going to try to downgrade Cubase again as you advised me how, as soon as I get in my studio and hope all returns to normal. This is clearly something that both Steinberg and Sonarworks will work together on to sort out which they will as Sonarworks is relied upon by so many professionals. I’m sure many folk will benefit from your video as always 👍

Hello sir Can i use other condenser microphone to measure ? (My mic AUDIO TECHNICA AT 2020). Or need this exact mic that comes with sonarworks box ?
@mixdownonline
@mixdownonline 2 жыл бұрын
You need a Calibration Type Microphone, a regular condenser microphone won't do it. The sonarworks calibration mic will cost you the same as another calibration mic, but will give you more precision with the calibration. Highly recommended as far as I'm concerned.

One Control Room question: In 11 Pro, if I have SoundID on the Control Room inserts section, will it affect audio exports? My understanding is it won’t, but just checking.

I don’t understand. Do you tweak your mix based on how it sounds in the emulations? If I use the car emulation and tweak the mix until it sounds good, is that what you’re trying to do?
@mixdownonline
@mixdownonline 9 ай бұрын
Not at all. These are only made IF you want to listen to how it could sound like in a car, for example, and not to make mixing moves until it sounds good. To know if a song sounds good or not in a car, you need to know how pro mixes sounds like in a car too, so referencing is key here.
@mixdownonline
@mixdownonline 9 ай бұрын
With that said, I don't use these emulations when mixing, I only use the room correction side of Sound ID

Hello Chris, I checked out and they offer upgrade price for Reference 3 and 4 owners. I wonder if the mic is the same, that is, if one owns the mic for Reference 4 already, it can be used for the new version.

How to calibrate SUB with Sound id microphone
@mixdownonline
@mixdownonline 2 жыл бұрын
You don't calibrate the sub on its own. You calibrate your speakers with the sub active, that simple
@samiksax

@@mixdownonline but when subs are used it needs to be phase aligned with one of the speaker. is it possible in sonarworks??
@MattZildjian

do people really mix with the flat target curve? this seems so wrong to me, speakers should not sound flat at the listening position, they should gently curve down. I use SoundID Reference, and I choose the "other" option in translation check and set it to 3db slope which sounds much more natural.

I can't think of any reason to use it as a plugin. You are asking for trouble. The correct place is in the PC drive to the speakers.
@mixdownonline
@mixdownonline 6 ай бұрын
Why am I asking for trouble? PC Drive to the speaker is fine for computer audio, but this is not the same audio drivers used for most DAWs. So Sound ID will do nothing if not inserted as a plugin when working in a DAW. With that said, here's a way better solution that I now use. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWLShJ5jl9ODkNU
@donepearce
@donepearce 6 ай бұрын
@@mixdownonline Because this device's purpose is to correct the speakers in your room, not modify a mix. That is why you put it in the monitor chain only - ie in the PC that drives your monitor speakers. It has no function inside the DAW - as long as you remember to disable it before your final mixdown you will be OK, but I guarantee there will be times when you forget to turn it off.
@mixdownonline
@mixdownonline 6 ай бұрын
@@donepearce You're correct, if used on the Mix Bus, you need to de-activate it before bouncing. Like I mentioned in my videos, I work with Cubase Pro and for the safe way to do it is to insert these type of plugins in the Control Room so you can't bounce the effect, only monitor with it :-)
