Question: What could be better than watching my two favorite Hickory and Long Nose golf historians making a Gutty Ball? Answer: Not much, other than possibly seeing them play a round of Gutty Golf using Long Nose clubs. Great video Christian & Elmer!!

I had the pleasure of talking to Elmer and his wife at the Columbus show. Made two balls, which I'm looking forward to taking out to the course for a try soon. He almost had me convinced to give building my own club a shot, even though I'm not sure that I have the skill level for it.

I’ve started working on the Tom Morris putter from Elmer’s book (videos coming soon), and so far so good. Believe me - if I can do it, so can you.

Just found your channel and love it. I've been looking for some hickory clubs. Just don't know what to get. I'm not a collector I just want something to mess around and play with

Very cool! What about air bubbles? if there was a large bubble on the side of the ball would it became lopsided?

I think that’s why Elmer does another round of heating after the initial mash. You could do that cycle a few times just to be sure before you put it in the mold.

Correction when I described the photo of ball makers in my book: I said Andrew Forgan was Robert Forgan's brother in the photo. While Andrew was a brother of Robert Forgan, the photo actually shows his other brother, James (Jamie) Forgan.
