Nice vid & idea! I'v got a mate 3D printing me one of these. Something I do when using these, is I use velcro strips & not cable ties etc. Once I'v done 1 "round" with the comb, I put 5-10 velcro strips on, not tight, but snug, and then as I do more "rounds" with the comb, I just pull the velcro strips down. This keeps the cable much nearer & uniform.

When I hear "cable combs," I think of the ones used within my PC build. ... I came across this video while trying to figure out how to make custom cable combs for my PC. I... don't think this will work in my PC. Lol

Combing and dressing is the professional way for run cables and a comb really helps. This is a great cheap solution which I bet lasts longer than the pvc versions. Only tip is to place a grove around the circumference to hold the cable tie or Velcro in place while dressing.

Nice economical way to dress cables. Having spent a mint on plastic cable combs, I find this a great and effective alternative.BTW I didn't mind the profanity at all. Personally, haven't met an installer that would. lol

Beautiful work. I guess this can easily be scaled down for hobby electronics. My wiring is a mess, so can't wait to try her out!

How long did it take you from start to finish? Now calculate your billing rate for the total time (and any tools and materials) spent making the tool. THAT'S how much it really cost.

Well the tools I didn't buy specially for this. They are the tools that I use in my job every day, i would have them irrispective of making a cable comb. so no need to account that exspence. The peice of MDF was out of the scrap bin, so free. So really if your accounting 15 minutes of my own time in an evening on something that I can reuse over and over on many jobs, the cost is negligible. If you take into account the electricity to cut out the MDF then pennies, literally a few pence!

Years down the line, still selling it at rip off prices, at least it's down to £10... What an utter joke.

+Will Novak He used it to hold the cables from popping out while pulling. You can also use a velcro strap like the Panduit version uses
