I love those stands, you can use velvet/felt adhesive paper to cover them, like this the doll feet do not slip.

Even more hillarious..I have a tonne of old cos I've been saving for years (with the intent if someday upcycling them into something..you know the creative mind 😉)...so when you said cds..I just laughed and knew it was meant to be. Very useful and informative video, my only suggestion would be to lower the volume on the music to match your voice as it's quite a bit louder which lead me to have to keep changing the volume on my phone.
@missysimaginings12 жыл бұрын
Yes ~ this was a long time ago & I have since learned how to lower it. I no longer have all the original editing for this one, and it will be like starting from scratch to change, so it's on the back burner at present.

@@missysimaginings1 You might be able to do it within KZbin Studio's editor, so there won't be a need to re-upload. I will definitely be trying to make some of these stands though as the ones online are too expensive for large collectors.

My new HID Rex was wobbly on even a saddle type stand lol. Not sure this size is the best for the really big and heavy dolls.

I agree. Will be posting a follow-up video shortly; I made a larger stand to experiment. I think it should have a heavier base & stronger post. :-)

I also like the saddle doll stands. The clothes hang better on the dolls. I have been rolling the idea over in mind thinking there must be someway to make your own. I wa thinking a round piece of wood and a wood doll ( not sure how that is spelled round piece of wood, anyway. Then your video came up. I am 85 years old and not sure I have the strength to do what you did, but may give it a try. Why do you recommend a plastic coated hanger as versus just a wire hanger? Does it have more stability? Enjoyed your presentation.

Thanks! I just like the plastic coated ones so there's less chance of scratching my dolls or snagging their clothing. 😊

I love this tutorial. but why do we need to glue the CD to the cardboard? they arent that heavy. would maybe balsa wood work or something else? or? you could also cut the pipe with an xacto knife razer saw. its very small and better than a stead knife.

I have a question I have a saddle stand for a large doll and while it’s great you can see the saddle part over the boys white tuxedo pants and I want to know how I can hide it so it sits under the crotch part of the pants but inside thanks.
@missysimaginings15 жыл бұрын
Hi! I don't know if this would work, but if your stand can come apart from the base, you can add a small hole in the crotch of the pants, slip the post through from the inside, then place doll in saddle & pull pants up onto doll over the saddle, thus hiding it.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. Do you have a written list of supplies? Thank you!
@missysimaginings12 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No, I don't have a printed list of supplies. I do have a follow up video to see how a larger stand would work. In that video, we see that the taller stand could work for SD size dolls that are made of plastic, but might not be suitable for taller, heavier, resin dolls without using stronger materials and a heavier base.

Why don’t you secure the cd part to the cardboard part by waiting to fold the contact paper over the cd part? That way there won’t be a seem between the two parts and gluing them together would be the only thing securing them together.
@missysimaginings12 жыл бұрын
I chose my method because I didn't want any raw edges of the Contact Paper on the outside of the stand. Over time and use, the edges can peel away from the surface. By wrapping the carboard and disc first before putting them together, all those edges are hidden inside. Of course, you can choose to make any adjustments to the pattern that would better suit your needs & preferences.

That's the price I got when I added up what I spent for new materials, then divided it by the amount of stands I could get out of those supplies.

Somewhat irrelevant question, but I hope someone can help me. Do doll stands work for teddies/plushies? I'm finding that nothing turns up when I search for teddy stands, the most I can find are doll stands. But since I've never owned one I don't know how they work exactly. Do the grips expand to fit varying widths? Do they slide up/down for varying heights, or are doll stands for very specific measurements only? Thanks SO much for any help, I've been looking for something for my new plush for weeks and I'm STILL stuck.
@missysimaginings14 жыл бұрын
I think for a teddy or plushie (especially one of any medium to larger size), you should look for a doll stand that can handle American Girl size dolls. These would have larger diameter waist rims that would work better for a teddy tummy. The wire waist rims wrap partially around the waist and then the back part slides up & down in the stand to adjust according to the height of the doll/bear. Hope that's helpful!
