Would you recommend any or none of these for a wreath? I also have some Spanish for the variety, but I don't believe it would lend itself to the full wreath you demonstrate.

Can I put the stems in a dry vase?
@okanaganlavenderherbfarm19942 жыл бұрын
I do that often 🌿 the stems splay out and the look is so organic. Just don't crowd them so they can dry properly. Too many stems can lead to mildew.

Did you get a musty smell from not being dried?
@okanaganlavenderherbfarm19944 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, this method of making a wreath needs fresh lavender in order for it to be malleable enough to follow the circle of the base. That being said, your fresh lavender does need to be dry, not wet from a sprinkler or rain which could cause a musty smell to develop. Hope this helps!

Lol my lavendar produces more leaves than it does flowers so I have to find a different strain that will produce more flowers that can thrive in my area. However the leaves it produces are extremely potent with the medicinal oils/scents so its excellent for cooking and making little scent bags to leave around the house.
@TallulahFoxxx2 жыл бұрын
This is quite unusual 🤔 Lavender is so floriferous generally! A few questions might solve the issue 🤓 firstly, what variety are you growing (and in what country/area)? Secondly, are you fertilising it? 🤔 Lavender THRIVES on poor soils and fertilisers are the number one cause of lots of foliage, and no flowers. Some people say climate is also an issue since it’s a Mediterranean plant, but I live in Scotland where the spring, autumn and winter are constant rain, sleet and snow 😂🤦🏼♀️ My lavender thrives regardless. The summers here are very long and quite hot so it balances out. Usually it’s fertilising that is the issue so don’t give it any at all. If you’re not fertilising, it may be that your soil is just too nutritious (though again, I’d be dubious because I garden on heavy clay which is extremely nutritious and my lavender thrives 🤔). The other cause could be not enough sunlight hours 🤔 Although in Scotland, we have pretty much Alaska-level daylight hours in the winter, we also have very long summer hours. Despite a very long and dark winter, until December I had blooms 😂🤦🏼♀️ If you have a full sun spot in your garden, put the lavender there if it isn’t already. Lastly, try being “mean” with cutting it back. I do two “big prunes” a year: once in the late autumn to tidy up the plants before winter (and to allow air circulation since it will be wet months ahead) and then again in the spring - just before it gets going. It encourages more blooms! Cut back HARD - trust me, it will grow back! 🤓 Lavender aren’t long lived, so to prevent them getting too woody, cut back as hard as you can without going too far into the woody base. This keeps the shoots young and green for longer! 💖 I hope those things help!
