That piece on the back is indeed old as no one does tatting anymore. It is incredibly beautiful. Because tatting is so difficult it was almost always just an embellishment over something else. It was almost always done in ecru.

Hello Eleanor. Have just subscribed to your channel and have been delighted with your tutorial about making a needle case. Yours is the only one I've seen that presumes that viewers know nothing about the topic (and I didn't). This then made your fabulous beginners instructions easy to follow. Thankyou so much because now I feel confident about giving this new interest a go. I am a patchworker so do understand about fabrics but had no understanding really about the construction of the project from the absolute beginning. I have many lovely pieces of old lace and embroideries and now feel confident about putting them to good use in Christmas gifts etc. Thankyou so much from Australia for your help with this.
