What would the shelf life be for this type of gelli plate?
@wezzocreates6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I haven’t had it long enough to say, but I am seeing people say that with good care, some can last at least 6 months. Some say well over a year. I’ll keep you updated.

This is amazing! I have never seen these before. What do you do with it? It's sold so you can't use it for a plate or hang it, so how do you use it?
@wezzocreates6 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙏 I use it as an alternative to screen printing. Taking black and white images (from a laser printer) or glossy magazine pages, there is a way to transfer the images from printout to the plate, and then onto a “final artwork” If you take a look at the shorts on my channel, you’ll see examples of me doing the process. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Why would you not dissolve the gelatine in the boiling water? So much easier.
@wezzocreates6 ай бұрын
Great idea. I’ll definitely give that a try next time round 🙏
@wezzocreates2 ай бұрын
Hey mate. I have tested mixing the gelatin in boiling water and do not recommend it as it becomes harder to mix. It pretty much turns to glue immediately. I have recorded another video showing the process to make a giant plate and will post it when I get a chance to edit it.

I wonder what is in fabric paint and if this technique would work to print t-shirts. Well, I do paint with acrylic and my acrylic paints' spills have lasted many wash cycles, not sure the dif...

I'm yet to try t-shirt printing, but I know others who have and its apparently pretty tricky. Instead of using fabric paint, they mix acrylic paint with a fabric medium (GAC900 by Golden seems to be the go). The tricky part is that you need quite a bit of paint in order to make a really solid impression on the shirt. That is the opposite of how gel printing works whereby you get better results in the transfers when you use a very fine layer of paint... I have seen JunkyKid on Instagram do this quite successfully so have a flick through his feed when you get a chance.

I have used my gelli plates to print on fabric. You will need 'textile medium' which you will mix in equal parts with your acrylic paint. Have fun!

How long does it last? As it is essentially a food product does it not start to rot or grow mold?
@wezzocreates3 ай бұрын
Hi Kevin. I'm not sure I'd classify the plate as a food product - yes gelatin is an animal by-product, but just in case someone decides to eat the plate... 🤦♂ After more than 2 months, the one in this video is still 100% perfect. I have also made a much larger one too that is perfect as well. I simply wipe down with a wet paper towel after each use and store it between 2 acetate sheets to prevent dust falling on it.

@@wezzocreates Could you share the ratios you used to make the larger one? How big were you able to go?
@wezzocreates2 ай бұрын
@@shellyrichardson2871 I went a little over A2 size. Hop into my KZbin channel and see my "Shorts" to see it in action. I used it for the Jim Morrison, Thom Yorke, and Lenny Kravitz ones... When it comes to the ratios, I needed to 5x the ingredients in this video to fill the baking tray I was using as a mold.This where vary depending on tray used. Let me know how you go 😃🙌

@@wezzocreatesgelatin is a very unpleasant flavour, if you don't mind animal by-products you could colour and flavour it, it's what commercial fruit jellies are.
