I still have all the Satin Padded cards my late husband and I sent to each other in the 1960's. I wish we could still buy them in the stores. They are fantastic.

This is just brilliant, Sam! I'm Canadian and am sixty, yet I have never seen one of these padded cards. I've seen wedding albums similar to this but that's all. I absolutely LOVE it and how precious is that, that you have those keepsakes from your Granny! Thanks, so much for sharing...you are incredibly creative, my dear!

TY for a trip down memory lane. I remember these in the states as Valentine Day cards when I was still a child. I am thinking that thin batting would work if there are any quilters watching who have scraps in their stash. I know that I do. I might give this a go. :-)

Great stuff ! Got a small oddment of Christmas fabric the other week. Idea was to do a padded square in the middle and emboss the 'frame' .Not enough for whole cards but this will help me out lots ! Love your card, thanks for sharing.

Amazing! The hood filter material for padding is genius! Here in the States JoAnn Fabric has costume satin that is fairly cheap ($1-2 a yard) that would be lovely for this card. I've never seen padded cards either and I'm sure I'm older than you are lol! Keep up the good work, I LOVE watching your tutorials. You always bring us such unique (and wonderful) projects :)

I love this idea - shame that I have finished making my Xmas cards! I make small silk paintings for special occasions, and mount them to cards. I've always used expensive quilting wadding, but will try the filters next time. Thanks for the idea - with no cooker hood, I'd never have found them!

Love the cards, Beautiful. You are using a flannel back tablecloth. We quilters use them for our designs on the wall because fabric sticks to it without using pins. I am new to your channel and so far I am loving all of your designs, Great work.

lovely. My friend and I made some a couple of years ago using the protective sheets that come with some on-line purchases. Not the bubble wrap though!!! Will have to have another go with material now.
