Well this video just clarified questions I had about marking out multi scale, thanks King you’re the man!

You had me worried for a minute that you were going to do 35 and 34 inch!! I generally fix the rule with masking tape and superglue in these situations to make sure I don't introduce any wiggle.

I only spotted I wrote 34” in a later video! 😂

10 a penny for fret scale rulers? Where? 😆 Great video my friend.
@KingBespokeCreations2 жыл бұрын
Well maybe common then 😂

Don’t think this is it, but I would clamp the ruler down to avoid possible small changes in the zero position when replacing the ruler each time. Mark all the positions, then unclamp and strike all the lines across.
@KingBespokeCreations2 жыл бұрын
Clamping is a good idea. I was pretty sure of no movement, and if I felt any I’d go back and recheck 👍

How do you account for the numbers right of the decimal point when marking? For instance, how do you mark 360.397? Round up or down? What kind of tolerances we talking here? Those numbers on the calculator would frighten off new builders like myself from attempting to do this.
@KingBespokeCreations Жыл бұрын
I’ll usually mark as 10th’s of a mm. so 360.4mm. Even if you buy a laser etched ruler you still won’t mark and then cut any more accurate than this. And don’t forget guitars we’re made by hand for centuries before machines came along! 👍

Is Meranti hard enough for a fretboard? Maybe its a different timber to the stuff they sell as Meranti here.
@KingBespokeCreations2 жыл бұрын
My local timber place sells meranti and I swear there’s two types. A really soft light weight type and a gorgeous hard wood. I’m using the nice one!

You made the nut square tho.. I'm confused? Usually it's the 9th fret or so...
@KingBespokeCreations2 жыл бұрын
Fret board is just cut out square for now. I need the scale ruler to get the correct angle for the nut and heel. All will be revealed next time!
@BoneheadGuitars2 жыл бұрын
I'd probably do both rules on the same nut location. That doesn't mean that's what has to happen on the fretboard.

@@FrugalFixerSpike no it’s bigger than that! You’ll see it when I come to use the new ruler!
@smudgetherealmc2 жыл бұрын
You measured and marked the fret position at a midway point on the side of the piece of wood then used a square to score the full line but if the top and bottom faces of the wood are not parallel then you will have introduced a small discrepancy where the line ends at the bottom face.

It’s called ‘set fret’ but I think they have stopped releasing it! Use can search the web and find similar site to do the job. I believe stumac has one.
