I too use old x-rays as my mom was a tech many years ago and I would use them for my woodworking/toll painting projects back in the 80’s and 90’s! With today’s technology I am not sure they use them anymore 😢

Yup. I make Tyvek stencils & masks & they are AWESOME!!! So easy to cut out, when you use them on paint, give them a super quick spray as you pull them up & then use them as stamps on a print. I keep meaning to do some die cuts too. So easy to cut, use & so durable.

Thank you for this! I didn't have Tyvek paper, but used a manilla folder. The outlines left behind were just awesome. First time that I had a total success - 8 out of 8 prints are keepers. Woohoo! I should add that I appreciated the fact that I had to hurry to put them down. It kept me from over-thinking.

I myself have made a video about melting Tyvek. For the acrylics not to dry too fast, I always use the Golden Open slow-drying acrylics, they‘re great and come in very nice colors…thank you Susan, I’m a big fan of yours! And hi from Berlin 🙋🏻‍♀️🎨

I love golden open too. But if you like the fluid you can also add a retarder in it to slow the dry time down. Golden makes the retarder as well....

I watched one artist use Liquitex Acrylic Mat Medium on her plate with her paints to help slow down the quick drying process. I love your tyvek shapes!

You can use baby oil to condition geli plates. Let it soak in for 15 minutes or more then clean off with a lint free towel. Prints will be crisper and paint will transfer cleanly to paper. I learned this from artwhisperer88 I can’t wait to try Tyvek as a mask. I love the outlines on the ghost prints. Great video!

I use baby oil sometimes. When the plate is really dirty. In the middle of session, never. I hate the way the paint laces after a cleaning with baby oil. I find it needs to site for a few days with paper on both sides after a conditioning like that. Thanks for watching.

I really like the fine white lines you achieved on your prints 🥰 Somehow they reminded me of blue prints and add a strength/structure to your prints, even though the white lines are thin. Beautiful!

I have watched several them videos in the past month, but they were videos focusing on heating \ partially melting the tyvek. So, of course, I just had to have some tyvek, but there is not a store near me that sells it (the envelopes at Wal-Mart have bubble wrap adhered inside). Well, this past Friday, I decided to go to a diner that I used to frequent 20 years ago (I am somewhat disabled, so, I can go places, it just takes longer) After I left the diner, I was walking to the bus stop when I passed a Fed-Ex store; I thought, well, let's see... The envelopes on the shelf had the bubble wrap; I asked the young man if he had envelopes without bubble wrap, mentioning that I wanted it for an art project. He reached in a drawer and pulled out a bubble wrap free envelope, handed it to me and then walked away. I was puzzled, thinking, "Well, this is bad customer service!" I asked "How much is the envelope?" He replied, "If it's for an art project, then, this time, no charge; if it works out, next time it will be x bucks an envelope. Have a good day!" Now, I see this video...I think someone is trying to tell me something...🤔

Fabric stores like JoAnn’s sells tyvec fabric. Cutting up envelopes is easiest.

Yes, Fedex was always a good resource for tyvek envelopes for free. But they are suppose to be used for shipping not art. I guess they caught on.

After the stencils are painted try covering with a clean paper and iron them. You may like the texture that the heat causes. If they are not for collage they may be good for printing a textured shape 9-19-24.

I know this is a silly questions for those more advanced, but I'm just starting out in the acrylic arts. These gel prints are beautiful, but what all can you do with all of these papers? I want to start learning how to make these, but then what???? Thanks.

They are good for making collages or adding collage pieces to a painting. They can be used for art journalling and for scrapbooking as well. I have some videos that show how I use them in collage and journals. I cut them up when I use them.

Yes I can. The paint is new to me and I just keep forgetting to look up how much I should add to the paint if they are in bottles. I use it on a palette. I don't want it to take too long either. I'm afraid I'll mess up the dry time and waste the paint. I'm still very new to Nova Color.
