Will you be reminding us of the giveaway here as well? It would be very helpful ❤ I love 3D printing because, even though I was resistant to it at first (“I can sculpt in real life, why learn 3D?”), but with health issues making me unable to be at a desk to sculpt, digital making helps to be productive and still enjoy my hobbies. Plus, prototyping is much simpler if I can print something on demand to test it out, and duplicating parts instead of remaking them. It’s not cheating, like I originally thought, it’s just another tool, like any other.

What is a shame is that alot of people disregard 3d printing as a frivolous hobby. What they failed to realize is that its also a quality-of-life improving hobbies. I literally 3d printed a leg for my Amputee friend using the A1, using PETG and TPU. I would've gone with ASA but we had to take into account weight. His first leg ended up being to heavy so when we walked, he walked with a limp. The second one ended up being too light and would find himself tripping over. We found that PETG that's reinforced with steel pipes to be the best compromise. Afterwhich, we gave it a coating to protect it from external elements (and also he wanted to paint on it).

One thing that I just learned recently, is when holding things with magnets, it is way more effective to use a lot of small magnets next to each other with alternating polarities. MagSafe works that way for example. I wish everybode knew this, so they would stop just using bigger magnets and then being disappointed, that the thingy it's trying to hold still slides down ;-;

@KeithKHАй бұрын
I don’t follow; can you explain why?
@BookOfMormanАй бұрын
@@KeithKH Because he has to go up a building, set up a camera (which is intensive with lighting and location etc), start the video, go back down, walk through the shot prob more than once, go back up, check the camera, possibly adjust the shot, and do it again possibly countless times for a 2 second shot most of us prob didn't even really notice. His attention to detail throughout the video and clearly life is inspiring.
@seltonuАй бұрын
@@KeithKH Because it's so incredibly unnecessary. It shows incredible attention to detail to put in that effort for a 1 second clip that contributed effectively nothing on its own, and that's what makes the dedication so impressive.

@@BookOfMormanwait, how do you know he didn’t just have someone else go up the building then film him?
@BookOfMorman29 күн бұрын
@k.robintaylor8272 I'd bet he did it himself but even if he had someone else do it, for the 2 second shot, it's still a lot of work to produce. While having 2 people would be more efficient, it's still a lot of effort to set up for such a quick shot. That's the point.

As a UX/UI Designer with over 13 years of experience, I've been struggling to find inspiration lately, especially with how oversaturated the job market has become. I never realized how much I’ve always wanted to be a maker-it just seemed like such an unattainable path. Like you mentioned, I thought it required working with engineers and taking on massive debt to bring a product to life. But the evolution of 3D printing has opened up so many doors! There’s definitely a learning curve, but I’m feeling super motivated to shift from creating digital designs to making physical ones. I couldn’t resist Bambu’s Black Friday sale and just ordered the A1 Combo-I can’t wait to start creating. Thanks for being such an inspiration, Scott!

From weird prototypes with arduinos, to simple projects. A slow start but then? Building giant clocks, a controller from a favourite game of mine, all to endup with me and my friends as the national champions of the CanSat competition in Poland. You're so right that 3d printing lets new products be made so quickly, actually, an airsoft field near me that i go to sometimes has collabed with me to create a new product for their field, It took aprox 1.5 months from concept to first irl test which went perfectly. With the tools of today, it is literally as simple as a few clicks to start on a great journey.

And there's a diy kit for just about everything if you look and with so many tutorial videos on here you can practice. I have an electronic toolkit and old phones and Chromebooks to practice on. Always remember, before the industrial revolution every man had his workspace and when he wanted something he had to make it himself and how he wanted if no smiths were about. You had to jack of all basic skills if not trades. You had to be knowledgeable of everything in your home to an extent.

I got an A1 a couple months ago and in less than a day got up and running printing replacement parts for restoring retro consoles instead of having to buy them, which has not only been cheaper than buying and shipping something someone else made, but allows for much more customizations in the restoration process, like making new colours of shells, or printing multiple colours for buttons. Really cool stuff and I have loved working with it.

Scott, are you interested to create your Portable Macintosh Mini for the new form factor of the new M4 Mac mini 2024 or is this not motivating you enough to redesign it?
@Sciman101Ай бұрын
The original 'macintosh studio' design took advantage of the fact that the iPad mini was the same width as the mac studio/mini - now that's it's narrower, he'd need a different device to act as a display. An iPhone 16 is a little under an inch too long, but even if it wasn't, a 5" wide display probably wouldn't be very comfortable to use outside of a secondary display.
@paulhorn24Ай бұрын
@ No, Scott just needs to create another solution for the new form factor of the new Mac mini and also how to use the new free space in his case for an even larger battery. Why do you want to change the outer dimensions unnecessarily???
