These strums sound great! I am having trouble muting all strings. I seem to leave either the first or the sixth string able to ring out.

Make sure to lay your whole palm down and just strum with your wrist first. That’s really the key. Just do it really slow and adjust until you have them all muted:

Brad i cant seem to get anywhere with guitar no matter what i do. Im getting very discouraged, im about ready to give up because learning through youtube is nearly impossible and we cant afford in person lessons.

And I've tried to be positive like you say but it's impossible for me when I cant get anything to sound right.

Hey dude! I hate to see when people get discouraged. I see you already commented on my other videoe on Drop D Power chords. I'd start right there and only focus on that for now. If you haven't, go check out this video on how to actually play a real song using those chords: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYjYcqx9Zp5kg7Msi=pKvCDDNtqBnNX0ie

@@SimpleGuitarDotCom ok, thank you. I'm sorry for getting discouraged it's just I've been trying to learn for months and I feel like I've gotten nowhere.

Useful video but a pity you don't say which chords you are using so that we can play along.

Sorry for that I believe I'm mainly playing what I call a Gadd5 (320033) and Cadd9 (x32033) and off the top of my head I can't remember but I might throw in a regular D major (xx0232) or a Dsus4 (xx0233) and possibly an Em7 (022033). I hope that helps.
