Ordered the polymer bearings and just installed them. Thanks to your video, all went well. Thrustmaster should be ashamed by using the system they do. I only have 2 hours on the TM16000m and the throttle was more like a ratchet wrench than a smooth rail. Thanks to you and Etsy, ALL GOOD! !! !!!

The one lubricant that everybody recommends for this throttle is Nyogel 767A, which is a damping grease: the sort of stuff in high-end telescopes and camera lenses. It is plastic safe and makes the throttle way smoother. It's useful on sticks as well, but quite pricey for a lubricant.

Expensive but it's incredible. The thottle is now smooth. I used it on the stick too. Highly recommended for all T16000 Hotas owners.

Perfect product and perfect manual. One hint - after assemblying, you can still fine tune the tension there is a hole in the bottom piece allowing accessinng the tension screw with the thtottle in the full throttle position. In case of unavailability of the metal bearing at the maker of this mod, you can still acquire them easilly on Amazon (I bouth then on the Polish Allegro).

I use those polymer linear bearings in my 3d printer. They're self-lubricating so as they wear a bit the dust binds to the rail. They're quiet, and will smooth after a bit of use. Don't oil the rail with them. The metal will roll easier, but I like a bit of stick. Also the grease will gum up, so you might get some issues.
@Gainn3 жыл бұрын
Not having access to a printer at the time I got the throttle, I just cut some small channels into the baseplate and glued in some small brass rods. I had to sand out the plastic a touch so only the rods were contacting the steel, but it's smooth as hell and really quiet. Took a few hours with a dremel and a vice. I also modified the swing arm so that runs on a small bearing, but I think I'll upgrade that with brass fittings at some point.

I just ordered one! Thank you sir - this seems like a way better alternative to the Nyogel I was about to slobber all over my currently shipping throttle!! Have you ever used the 767A gel along with your device btw? Is it recommended or would it be too sluggish?
@CoreHawk3D4 жыл бұрын
@@amirite Thanks for your order Steve! I have not tried that. I wonder if it would make the metal bearings silent... I don't know much about it honestly. If it's damping I wonder if it would deteriorate the seals on the fronts and backs of the metal bearings. The polymer ones recommend no lubricants so I imagine that lubricating them might accelerate their degradation (which is indefinitely slow as far as I know). That being said, it might work really well and if it does degrade stuff fast, you can just buy new bearings on amazon and swap em out! I don't know if I'll be trying that on mine because I'm after a solution you can install and forget about forever and I imagine those would attract more dirt than I'd like personally. Let's be honest though, it's not like I've gone in and measured dirt accumulation rates or anything so who knows, you'd probably be fine! haha sorry for the novel...

just a heads up. every so often as a typical PM for the linear shafts. Its a good idea to remove them and wipe them off with IPA. Then lubricate them with a turbine oil. Its important to use this type of oil when working with linear shafts and bearings. Respectfully, Mike

Dry graphite lubricant and a polishing sponge. It will take quite a bit of patience, but if you polish the plastic piece that the bars ride on, as best you can, and use a *little* graphite powder it will be butter smooth for many years. But, eventually it will get sticky again. This mod fixes that; polymer bearings with a touch of graphite, PURE SILK.

Very simple and very low cost fix, put a dab of dialectric grease on your finger, rub it on each rails and move the throtled back and forth. Fixed. Thrustmaster was very very cheap on the lubrication. Of course the linear bearing will permanently solve and improve the throttle but it costs more and requires disasembly of the unit while just greasing the thing properly takes 30 seconds.

The reason the throttle sticks in places isn't because its plastic on metal. Without a bearing any scratches or changes to the surface of the rod will change the friction. Changes in friction change the speed when you push on the throttle. This ruins consistency with small adjustments. When your pushing down your increasing the friction. This makes the small changes less pronounced and it feels smoother

I will say, I'm not at all paid by this guy, but using their bushings/bearings is going to be WAY better than just trying to grease the rails. You might get a few days where it feels better, but you'll never get to as smooth as it is with proper bushings/bearings. Everyone in our org who owns this throttle has bought this and its a universal opinion. Its a design flaw on TM's side. Not saying everyone SHOULD be getting this, if you can figure it out yourself, great. But a bottle of lub is like $20, almost the same price of just buying this. It's legit a great redesign. And regardless you're going to want to redesign the slide system not just pouring lube on it and spending tons of time keeping it clean.

I have a question about the magnet detent. The magnets are placed to sucking from each other(N-S, not N-N/S-S), and fixed only by tape/glue, right? Won't you worry if the tape/glue aged in future, the two magnets will be loosen and finally leave the plastic and sticking with each other? Sorry for my English, hope I express my question correctly
@TFCSHQ Жыл бұрын
This happened to an org mate of mine who just used the double sided foam tape. However I ended up using super glue for mine, roughing both the magnet and the throttle, and they're still attached. You could also do the same with epoxy
@ShikaiXu Жыл бұрын
@@TFCSHQ thanks for the reply. So with super glue it'll be sticking there forever. If in future I want to remove the DIY detent, it'll damage the inner surface of the plastic case... 🤔

In my experience with superglue it probably won't damage much. The Epoxy will. That said, you could also use other glues, like white school glue or hot glue and you for sure won't damage anything and it'll be easier to remove.

Which parts do I need for the throttle? I went to the sellers side, but there was several choices...?
@TFCSHQ Жыл бұрын
The seller has updated the product several times since this video. However the choices are color (doesn't matter what you pick) and if you want bushings or bearings. (or both). My experience with the bearings was they were maybe a little smoother than the bushings, way less resistance (which isn't necessarily a good thing) but also WAY louder. For most people the bushings is probably what you want. However it's not that much more expensive to just get both. That's what I would suggest so you can try both out.

How does the Dampening feel if you screw it tighter with the metal bearings?
@TFCSHQ4 жыл бұрын
"replicate the Form of the original base" What exactly do you mean by this? "the magnets are too small" I think they're a bit weak myself. It does work however for what I used it for though. But you could always add your own. Some people have hot glued a larger more powerful magnet to the bottom of the base and sled. "Dampening" Personally I really don't like any friction however I just tightened it all the way and honestly cant really tell a big difference. It doesn't seem to stick either.
@calistin14 жыл бұрын
Hm is it me or does it look like the center detent magic is a little too strong? It kind of looks like it wont allow you to leave the stick at any precis spot just before or after the indent and it will just pull the throttle to it?
@TFCSHQ4 жыл бұрын
Its actually a little weak imo. Without the throttle attached yea it looks strong but I might actually add a second magnet so it's stronger.

@@TFCSHQ Oh good to know! btw what is it about the metal ones you like better? Are they a little smoother than the polymers ones? Just that the polmers have a little more friction?
@TFCSHQ4 жыл бұрын
Less friction. They're both smooth. However the metal ones have much less friction. Its not strong enough to pull the throttle. It does pull the base by itself though. Its not as noticeable as I'd like personally.
