Did you make that 3D file?

@@CasmoTV Yes, I just discovered your channel. good job

Thanks man. And thanks for the file. Works like a charm! Just had trouble finding a metal Rod to fit in the handle so had to improvise.

I've always found it fascinating to see the lengths people go through to get their flight sim gear just right. Thanks for sharing your experience. Pretty soon you will have a home sim pit made from the salvaged frame of an OH-58. Also, how did you make it through this video without cracking up at the innuendo?

Mike Solyom yeah my wife will serve papers if I try to build a home pit lol. As for cracking up... the power of editing.

I'm not familiar with the crew station geometry of the Apache or Kiowa, but a 20"-ish stick length (measured to the middle finger position) matches the blackhawk pretty well. What's more important is the linear, or arc distance that the grip travels. 10" is a pretty good distance for helicopters. Because you modified a desktop joystick with large angular throw, it appears you have a fair bit more than this. BTW, since you have an awesome resin printer and you know how to wire switches, I don't think it would be too difficult to make a really nice grip. I have the beginnings of a 3d model of a "cobra style" grip, which can be found in the UH-60A and L variants. Let me know if you're interested.

Totally interested! And yeah I am far to simple in the head to understand 3D design beyond basic shapes. I’ve watched many videos and tried to follow along but I just get lost. Need to have a sit down with some genius and have them walk me through it. If nothing else I need a base for this grip cause I had to sacrifice it for that attachment.

great video - have thought about doing this 1000 times... one thing i'd watch out for is with all the leverage you've got with the longer stick, you might end up cracking the gimble ball & rod that sits in the stick's base (no idea what it's called), depending on how often & hard you go full deflection. I guess full deflection is less likely because of stick extension, though...
@CasmoTV4 жыл бұрын
Yeah not a lot of need to go full deflection with this one. If nothing else my stork-like legs or desk/chair prevents it lol.

Sorry if you have covered this else where, but what are you using for the collective and pedals? and, if using a standard throttle and fixed wing style pedals, how much, if any, do you think it takes away from the experience? Thank you and thanks for the amazing content, keep up the great work!

So I just kinda skimmed through the video real quick in the small amount of time I have, was wondering if you could fix the return to center problem with a stiffer spring? Sorry if you went over that in the video I just didn't catch it if you did.
@CasmoTV4 жыл бұрын
Zach Gillett no but honestly I didn’t try. I kinda like the wet noodle feel as a kiowa will spill you on your ass if you let go. It holds enough tho that I’m comfortable releasing pressure without my aircraft doing a crazy Ivan barrel loop.

Mixing metric and imperial measurements can be expensive! Ask NASA... But this turned out good! Nice!
