Can you make a tutorial on how to actually make basses? Like from scratch. That would be great because my basses…… kinda suck, and I want your help. I’ve been listening to a lot of people on HAVOC records recently and it’s kind of made my expectations for my music a bit higher but I can never reach that expectation.

Great video dude!! so helpful, I was so confused with mixdowns as Im a beginner and fell for the whole "cant be clipping in red" thing, so Im glad you said not to worry about that, because it was honestly ruining my mixes and making things way more complicated than it need to be. That being said I've heard/seen in tutorials about mixing in mono vs stereo Is this something you do? if so could you make a video about it, kinda confused lol?

Oh wow glad that I could help! When it comes to stereo/mono I'm more of a minimalist on those things I tend to only push certain sounds like main basses to be more stereo utilizing dimension expander and monitoring with Kilohearts Stereo but other than that I don't push things to be more stereo

Very interesting did not know there was a built in soft clip. Very curious on how your mix sounds so good with every Chanel on the same level. Do you just use clippers and other plugins to achieve a balanced mix?

Yeah I usually balance things out to where drums, main bass and sometimes sub bass are leveled out, everything else is usually dialed back like: SFX, atmosphere, supporting layers etc. I usually also use G Clip for monitoring the "0db" so I can also make things like my main basses a little warmer in the mix (sometimes the drums sound very much more way louder) since abletons definition of "0db" is a very odd conundrum.

@@Deucez_music How about the clipping master in Ableton 11? I’m still in 10, and everything’s telling me to not update, including this super cool soft clipping feature I didn’t even know about in 10

Yo on span is there some sort of db tilt going on? I thought a master is supposed to look like pink noise essentially

I know for me personally for monitoring I'll set the grid and then change the smoothing for my own personal preference for referencing but outside of that I'm not sure. Most very clean mixdowns are the lows matching the highs and a dip after the lows that gradually comes back up into the highs 🙏🏼
