Elio is cool to have around, he can see what Karl is laying down and able to have a tool ready for him. That is something I tried teaching my kids. Think head of me will speed up production. I feel like the square tube on the end could have been 12” taller for all the other tools you have for them. So part 2 is in order for this series. Also, it would be cool for you to have some videos on the autocad. Always learning something with Karl and Elio!

Pretty cool work station. I am really impressed by your creative and design skills. When you mentioned wheels on the stump . I immediately thought of some kind of cantilever wheel that only touches the floor when you lift from the other end. That would eliminate wobble. Really good work on that project.

I agree with you on the digital drafting. While I love to doodle with paper and pencil, the digital drafting allows me to see all the correct scaling. Although I have used Autocad a bit. I would love an in-depth on draftsight and how it relates to your CNC. I love to see how your brain works through solving and creating shapes. Look forward to each new video.

A couple years ago I asked if you could do a quick video on the original hammer cart and you said you would. I'm just about as busy as you and I lost track of all the stuff coming through my YT feed and if you did that video, I never saw it. But I'm glad I stumbled onto this one. It has given me a lot of ideas. In the last couple years I've accumulated quite a few more tools that I would like to incorporate into a modular shaping station and I was just hunting for a little inspiration and direction. Thank you Karl for taking the time to make these videos.

This is also an idea I have had too. Only thing I would change would be to make the legs longer to be higher for more clearance when working with larger deeper metal etc. Also I am an old guy and having to bend down over pieces can give me a bit of pain over time...lol. Keep up with the great ideas!

My brother just drafted out plan's on paper on an addition to the house my mother went to submit them to the city. The city clerk was talking smack about they want them submitted over the computer? She did take the paper plans and my brother knows nothing about drawing on the computer or anything about drawing blue prints he did the best he could. The city is very lazy or picky about submitting plan's it's just something to file away right?

I have about 20 years in IT behind me. Burnt out. The moment I hear "... program" or "... in the software" I zone out and become disinterested. My computer has become my entertainment center/television, and I have to force myself to even reply to emails. It's why I like doing things with my hands in real life or watch people do real things in real life.

@@AlfOfAllTradestake care mate, I know how you feel. Don't worry about it and look to something else. I was in a very similar situation 5 years back. My advice is limit the videos and every day get out of the house and make something or do something. Even if it is a simple bird stand from twigs and string if you don't have metal working stuff. Or start with 1/2 mile walk and build it up. You will get through. Take care, Joe

I'm 62 yrs old didn't own a computer until 12 yrs ago, you can get fusion 360 as a hobbyist for free, learn it and if you are making money with it then purchase a subscription. My advice would be stay away from odd brand stuff, because of the lack of help. The biggest mistake I made was starting out with Bobcad. because it was so different from other software and mentally difficult to cross over. Fusion has a sheet metal function which is very usable!

I think the "stock" height is great, it gives more flexibility and allows some of us "higher mileage" people sit down while working. You could offer risers (a bit of hitch tube with feet on both sides to bolt on wherever they want) offer 1 rail and leg as a base kit, then sell individual components or larger kits so broke people like me can add a little bit at a time as money allows. Love the variety of content. Keep it up!

They make "workbench wheels" that you can just attach and step on to bring the wheels down and up. I love how modular this all is 👍 one note for bringing stuff out - you'll want feet that are long enough/can be adjusted to help with the leverage both to avoid tipping and bounce.

What a cool work station! It looks so professional it looks store bought. I put hydraulics on my welding table, when you want to move it just extend the wheels to move it. then it's stable when you want to use it. I also put heavy duty levelers so you can level it where ever you move it. Might try something like that cause I know you like hydraulics! Take care

Hey Karl I like what you do I have fabricated for many years I also have built aluminum boats and that was fun I remember welding ribs on a flat bottom boat for the first time and the ribs moved out passed the bottom on one side the reason that happened was I stitch welded from one end to the other. ( I told my boss and he laughed and said you have to cut them out and resend them but weld towards the last weld) there were 14 ribs not fun, but a lesson was learned anyway that nks for all the great videos keep it up dude

This rack is awesome Karl. I know you'll come up with something clever for that hitch tube. I was thinking an internal tube that can slide up and down inside the outer tube, both tubes with evenly spaced holes that you can put a hitch pin through for adjustable height. Then some adapters that fit in it for all the different size stake anvils. For the T-dollys some type of leg vise to hold them with a stop so they can't slide down in the vise jaws when you hit them would be nice too. The options for this are literally endless!

Also, regarding your idea for a third wheel to move the "Mother Tucker" stump and tool rack, you could mount a pipe with a T-handle on it kinda like on a pallet jack but welded solid on the third wheel assembly to use leverage to initially lift it so it can be moved.

A CAD tutorial would be most welcome. One suggestion on the work center, convert all the tool posts to 2" square tube so they drop in the hitch tube. With the collars as you mentioned you will not have to pin most anything. The weight will hold it in place. I have my big vise bolted to a horizontal tube that inserts into the frame of my steel table. I drilled it for a pin, but have not used it after the first tool change.

As a CAD operator, fluent in Fusion 360, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Draftsight (Dassault Systems, the parent company of Solidworks, version of AutoCAD), CAD really is super easy these days. I have a degree in drafting and design. Since 2015 (when i graduated) there has been leaps and bounds in CAD programs and its super fun now. I want more people to use it. Sure, paper and pen are quick and easy, but if you need more complicated models and drawings with dimensions and layout features, CAD can damn near automate them in minutes.

Making your station mobile; you want the stump to be flush on the ground, same as blacksmith with their anvil bases, not on casters, they won't hold up to the impact from hammering. Look at the mobil bases for wood working machines for good ideas to make your caster or wheels retractable. Another suggestion, on my woodworking machines I have a pr of fixed wheels on one end and the other I put a plate with a large hole in it. Then I made a dolly like you use to hand move a trailer around that fits in and lift it up to move it around. Thanks for all the informative videos
