All those extra steps take away from what the vlogging thing is about, you should be able to quickly whip out your camera and press record. Not whip out your camera, go through sony's crap menu system to find the wifi connection options, grab your phone..bla bla bla, i couldn't even be bothered typing the rest.... you get where im going with this?

Zero Point Productions Nope. I do not get where you are getting with this. You don’t have to go to camera menu. You just connect to camera wifi on phone with one click and click on app in mobile if you paired phone with camera before any time. Have you ever been vlogging or used that app on phone? Never seen anyone need to start recording vlog in 1 sec. With phone it takes me maybe 10 sec to make camera ready for vlogging and I don’t have to lose camera warranty and make it not easy to sell.

If it is stiff it’s because you haven’t smoothed enough the little pin. Mine was stiff as mentioned and i proceeded to smooth it all the way and there is no resistance at all now. Great hack. Keep it up.

We should call this the "Alpha-A Hack". To tribute the Alpha A-mount Sony's DSLT cams that have the articulating screen that goes down all the way, and a couple of others that go Down and UP (a77, a99)! I just do something similar to your string hack, I just hold the camera with 1 hand, focus on the other hand. Then turn the camera around! More reliable than auto focus 😎

I heard that Canon own the patent for the flippy screen you see on their cameras. Apparently Panasonic licence it off Canon but Sony aren't willing to do that. I think this is the reason for the completely different design where it flips upwards rather than out.

Just ordered an a7III and I blame you fully! What is your view on lenses since E-Lenses are often way more expensive than EF? Should I get an adapter and EF-Lenses or is that a disadvantage (I guess in regards to focus and stabilization). Starting from scratch for I only own MFT-Lenses so far (no Canon lenses to re-use). did this to my a7III, thank you! to everyone's info, removing the ribbon cable is needed to fully flip around the screen. I clipped my hinges first but the ribbon was too short to flip all the way. Also on my ribbon cable there were 2 plastic bulges that I cut away to make the cable move more freely. after that I put the metal protector of the cable (the part he takes off first) back on. Josh, you're a hopeless creative like many others out there, just keep producing, you'll easily fill the shoes of casey and pete soon ;)

had exactly the same experience with my 7iii hack... the cable is just a little bit to short to leave it in the protective housing... i made a micro mirror to solve the upside down issue... you can check it out here.. instagram.com/p/BsdjUxto2Lx/?igshid=3d7e3x8oh8ks

2 completely unrelated questions: where did you buy that protective mat, or whatever I should call it, that you work on? And also, is it the BMPCC4K you have in the top-down frame or what camera is it? Awesome vid as always though!
