Edit: for people getting stuck on stitch counts per row, the written pattern may be wrong. Follow the first 25 minutes of this video very closely (slow it down if you gotta), and just repeat the two different types of rows until the sleeve part is long enough for you. Your final row should be dc stitches (not window stitches) and this pattern is forgiving enough to add an extra stitch or two per side to make them the same. I found a lot of my issues were when I went on auto-pilot and ended up skipping a chain in the window rows, so i would then miss a dc in the next row, making it a stitch too short in the next window row. Just add the missing window to the stitch it was supposed to end on. As long as you are careful and only do it once or twice, you should be ok. Firstly, I need to thank you immensely for the tutorials for this-in literally every format. Thank you so much! Easy patterns for plus sizes are really hard to find, especially ones where custom fitting is as simple as adding a row or two, but this is the best pattern so far. I love how its looking so far and I am confident this will be my ultimate favorite sweater! Now, I may just be a slow crocheter, and I am making the 5X (i might make it a little bigger, idk yet) but I can say so far that this is quite a time consuming project for plus sizes. It is gorgeous and easy, I WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT FOR BEGINNERS, but one hexagon at 30 rows has taken me about 20 hours (it slowed down to a crawl of about one row per hour for me around row 25ish). If you struggle with sticking to one project, smaller sizes of this are going to be easy and quick, but larger sizes are gonna take a while. Again though, thank you a million times for this pattern and tutorial. It was exactly what I was looking for!

I've made a bunch of these and you can make the sleeves smaller by stopping the hexagon before it is full size, then stitching the sleeve and then adding around the hexagon until the side of the sweater is the size you want. Then add your scallop or trim. They are fun to make using up a lot of left over yarn too.

Thank you for this video and explanation. I have two question: 1) I am making the M size, so I finished the hexagon after 24th row. Now I have 95 stitches on the rows 2-6. When I do the hexagons extension for the left part, (sides 5 and 4) for 4 rows, I end up having 104 stitches instead of 109 and tried it many times. What do you think causes this? 2) Is the number of extension rows same for all the sizes? I mean, 4 rows of hexagon extensions and 8 rows of sleeve extensions, is that it?

When I used the written instructions for this pattern I found I had to increase each of the DC rows by 2 DCs in order for the stitch count at the end of each of those DC rows to match the written instructions. Ended up doing 3 DC, CH2, 3 DC in each of the corners (only on the DC rows) to make it come out as per the written instructions. This glitch was just for the hexagon part of the pattern.

@bukimeisu3 жыл бұрын
By entire round/row. Depending on the size, you can divide the amount of rows by 3 (each color). So pick your size, figure out how many rows that is (22, 24,26, 28, or 30) then add the extension rows, finally divide that number by how many times you wanna switch your color. That will tell you how many rows to do per color switch. Good luck!

Hi, I've been trying to get the gauge right, but failing. I am using Medium (4) weight yarn. I had started off with a 7 mm hook, but that was way off. Now, I am on a 5.5 mm, and the sides are correct at approximately 7", but the radius is still just under 5" rather than 4". While I can appreciate that using a 5 mm hook may be the answer, I am afraid that the windows in the design may be too small for any effect. As is, the radius is just under 5" and one side equals about 7". I want to make the 3X version. Should I continue as is, or start over with the 5 mm hook? Any advice/guidance given would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
@RH-gm4ni9 ай бұрын
Update: I have returned to the 7 mm hook...after reaching 16 rounds. 😅 Anyway, the reason I have decided to go back to it is because based on my understanding of the pattern, it seems that once I make the hexagons to fit me, it should be fine and everything will fall in place. I will let you know how it works out. Thanks. ☺
