Good to see you in the bush again . Im glad that you show respect for the trees . Im also greatful that you proved that the white birch dont die when you take some bark off. My dad was so strick that my sister and I cannot take the bark from a live tree. Haha I wished he was still here. I made one but not as nice as yours . I bet you could sell . Anyway keep them coming . Don

Glad to see you're doing well on the other side of the lake! First day for moose today! Got invited out this weekend, but I gotta set my boat up. Sweet call. Makes me want to find a decent tree up here to make one. I've just been rocking the old paper towel tubes, but would be better to have the real deal. Hope you get one this year! Take care.

Heck ya love the fall hunting ahead. That was a really nice natural moose call that you made. Thanks for showing us. Wish I had some birch trees around an some moose also. Here in Texas it's Whitetail deer we hunt but not for another month. Might try to find a tree that I could get some bark off of an make a small cone, could use it for a grunt call maybe. For sure gone to try to make one if I can find some bark that will work.Great video love The Wild North!

right on, looking forward to seeing those calls and you using those calls. On one of my moose calling videos, I called in two dandy bulls at the same time. One was a 20 pointer and the other was a 24 pointer. Love calling those moose. I'll be hunting them on the 09 Sep, or guiding. Not sure which... Our leafs are already changing colour in the boggy areas. Fall is coming, the sun is getting softer, and the days shorter... Time to get out chasing moose. Love your vids Andrew, keep them coming brother. Charlie aka NLGhostWolf

I read the book Hidden Life of Trees as you suggested. Good read. Thanks. You can decorate you call by burning with a hot knife. I expected split roots instead of peeled. Your way seems faster. Do you put wadded grass in the call when using it? It muffles the sound for close in work. Great video. Thanks.

Could you use either boiled linseed oil on the outside to prevent it drying out, or even bear grease? I have a recipe from the late 1700's that i use that works great as a wood and leather preservative, and a great coating for the outside of firearms and tools.
