As soon as I saw that you didn't have any shoes on I knew some jackass was going to be all high and mighty in the comments. I can highly relate to the lack of shoes. I have worked construction both land based and the marine industry wearing only slippers as "safety shoes" and I have never had an injury. Is it the best advice? No, but what it does do is make you think safety more so than if one is wearing safety equipment. We come to rely on this external equipment and less on our own thought.. Great desk BTW!

Steel toe obviously is the best but my grandfather who worked heavy machinery and wore them all the time still messed up his feet when a heavy steel door went down on his feet. Nothing is ever 100% safe. It's similar with knife safety, I hear people complain about never using a knife unless it has a lock. If you can't use a slip-joint without losing a finger, you're just not good at handling knives or do things that a knife isn't meant to do. The persons ability and common sense are your first line of defense. Boots and gloves and other items are secondary. They won't save you if you don't do what you're supposed to.

I don't wear shoes around the house. Haven't done it for about 15 years. Only time I wear shoes is when I go out. Biggest foot problem I've had in those 15 years? I small dried prickly thorn thing from a tree that slightly annoyed my for a couple hours. Biggest injury I've had while wearing shoes? Nail about two inches into the bottom of my foot (at an angle, so it didn't com out the top, luckily) By that experience, it's much safer to not wear shoes. When you don't wear shoes, you tent to be a lot more careful about where you walk and step. More people should go around without shoes, it would teach them to be ware of their environment.

Steel toe is the absolute worse if you work with heavy machinery. Instead of getting your does smashed, the steal toe will just shear your toes right off. Gloves are also something you should never wear when dealing with power tools. They can get caught on thing, and pull your hands right into whatever you are using.

Designing a new desktop for our newly refurbished kitchen and like your design. I'll probably use different legs on mine and add a PC case shelf underneath to get it off the top of the desk. Hadn't considered using veneer for the edges, thought maybe of using some trim but hey the veneer would work too. Looks good!

This video is AWESOME! It is just what I was looking for. Something simple, elegant, that could be done fast, with simple tools and a reasonable budget. I can't thank you enough. The only thing I would add is including some more info in the description. Such as: Materials: - Type of Wood - Dimension - Finish used - Where to get the Legs, or similar ones - iron-on siding stuff - etc Tools: - Type of camps - Type of screws - etc. I could find the info in the comments, but it would be nice to have it on the description of the video. Good job!

Seriously, what are they worried about? I can understand freaking out about not using eye protection or pushing wood through a table saw with your hands very close to the blade, but seriously, what's the worst thing that's going to happen if you are bare foot? Step on a nail or screw? I've had a screw go right through a shoe, so that's not going to help. Best thing is just to be aware of your surroundings. If you drop a nail or screw, pick it up immediately. I can understand if you are working with a bunch of other people, but at home, when you are the only one out there, this is fine. This is like saying you should never take you shoes off inside because you could step on a toothpick or something (I've also done that, and no, it wasn't my toothpick.)

@jphallow787 жыл бұрын
It's called iron-on edge banding, you should be able to find it at your local Lowe's or Home Depot, but I know Amazon has some of it as well. It typically doesn't come in that size so you'll want to be careful on what size you get, I think the standard is 3/4 inch since that's the typical thickness of plywood most folks use but his is bigger than that, maybe 1 1/2 inch.

I want to either make my countertops out of different colors of hardwood 2" x 2"...or make the countertops out of extra fine concrete and put epoxy on them for a super high, water proof, and high gloss finish. Any advice on my kitchen remodel will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you very much! Doe Campbell Texas
